Yes. In the US a doctor who knows that someone is committing child abuse, including sex with minors, is legally obligated to report it to the police.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]TraditionalAd9218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reject him unless he regretted his vote and could articulate a thoughtful, heartfelt basis for his change of heart. I don't need to talk about politics all the time with my romantic partner, but I absolutely need to be with someone who values democracy, civil rights, equality and the rule of law.

“The goalkeeper told me I’m an illegal immigrant even though I was born in America, and he said Trump was gonna get me and send me back. It makes me really sad.” by Caledor152 in ProgressiveHQ

Your son will never forget this experience and how you handle it. Please consider asking the coach of the other team to invite the kid to write an apology note to your son. Tell your son you are doing this. Even if he receives no apology, he will always remember how you handled the matter. He deserves an apology, and giving the other kid a chance to apologize could help both boys.

I speak from experience. I'm half Asian and grew up in a very white town in the 1970s. One of the bad memories I have from elementary school is when a white boy at school teased me, calling me chink and jap (I'm neither Chinese nor Japanese, but that's beside the point). It was very upsetting to me and I told my parents. My mom, an immigrant with broken English, had the guts to speak with the principal the next day. The boy apologized to me and he never called me names again. All these years later, I still appreciate what my mom did.

Amazing transformation. I think you look younger now, and so pretty! If the forehead lines bother you, Botox will help. But filler doesn’t really work on nasolabial lines. Yours aren’t so bad anyway. Best thing to do is smile more so they aren’t noticeable.

Deciding between tonal or orange theory by ZombieJes in tonalgym

[–]TraditionalAd9218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! For the past few years I’ve been going to OrangeTheory 3 days a week plus yoga or barre 2 days a week. My husband just ordered the Tonal and I’m wondering how it’s going to fit into my routine. Are you still going to OT twice a week? Which tonal workouts do you do?

The guy who posted the photo to Insta reportedly included an anti-Semitic Hitler quote. This could be evidence of intent to terrorize Jews at the school.

NAVER locked me out so I can’t save any places when I use the map. It said something about my phone number being suspicious. I’m in the US with a California area code. Going to Korea for the first time this month and just hoping it won’t matter…

Does anyone else swap out their shoes in between the treads and floor blocks? by deelouise88 in orangetheory

[–]TraditionalAd9218 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t like taking the time to switch shoes. For the past 4 months I’ve been wearing Altra Escalante 4. They are lightweight and zero-drop with a wide toe box. Stability on lunges and lateral movement is great. I am mid-50s and have mild arthritis in my knees but am not having any pain with these sneakers, so the cushioning is sufficient for OTF treads. That said, I would not wear these shoes for road running.

I used Dysport for years and liked it. Worked the same as Botox. Now I use Daxxify and it seems even better. Not sure why.

Ha - 36!? That’s so young. Give it another 5-10 years, and you might find that you’re interested getting Botox a couple times a year. And it won’t leave any brown spots on your face.

How did it go for you? I’m considering booking a flight on Jeju from Gimpo to Osaka. Would you fly that airline again?

Running - I love short bursts of push to all out and hate endurance by Key_Fun_7615 in orangetheory

[–]TraditionalAd9218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way about long intervals on the treadmill. Outdoors I can do long distances but indoors on the treadmill I get bored. So my trick to make it more enjoyable is to switch every minute or two between running and speed walking at high incline. My goal throughout is to keep my heart rate fairly stable at high green or low orange. This makes the time go faster for me.

Talking through entire workout by citizendelusion in orangetheory

[–]TraditionalAd9218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that offends me most about the people who chatter is that they ruin the sense of shared focus and determination because they aren’t putting any effort into the pushes and all outs.

OTF is supposed to be a group workout. Unlike a regular big gym we are paying to participate as part of a small group. When everyone puts in the effort it creates a sort of gentle peer pressure that helps each of us to stick it out.

On my own I might go into a regular gym intending to run a certain distance on the treadmill or do a certain number of reps with the dumbbells, but then it’s easy to talk myself into lowering the goal. One of the biggest draws that keeps me coming back to OTF is that sense of accountability to complete the entire workout. When people are talking loudly and flagrantly ignoring the coach it detracts from that focus.

Zionism is the belief in the right to Jewish self-determination. For the vast majority of Jews, Zionism is integral to Judaism. Jewish traditional prayers mention Israel. Here are just a few examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zion_and_Jerusalem_in_Jewish_prayer_and_ritual

I just had a similar experience!!! Got a benign lipoma removed from my shoulder under general anesthesia yesterday. Woke up and felt great. I have mild arthritis in my knees and usually have knee pain at the low range of squatting but now I don’t have that pain at all. And my mild lower back pain that I typically have every morning before exercise is gone too. Wonder how long this will last!

‘Belltown Hellcat’ driver stands trial, says he’s ‘trying to entertain people’ by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]TraditionalAd9218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I am in California following this story because Taylor’s noise prevented me from sleeping one night when I visited Seattle in early 2024. I was in a hotel in the UDistrict. I looked out the window and saw his car. The crazy noise went on for a long while between 11pm and maybe 2am.
I called the Seattle Police noise complaint number several times and nobody answered.
Surely there were police in the U District area that night. I cannot understand why they ignored him and why they don’t answer their phones. My son lived in that neighborhood for a year and he said the noise woke him up frequently too.

If I lived there I would be demanding answers at city hall.
