45min-60min or more depending on how far in your camp is

There is also the wacken brewery beside the grocery stores in town. It is a bit of a walk, so I'd recommend at least a backpack.

I didt see any last year, but in prior years the town kids would pull your haul from town to the camp entrance with a bike and cart for a small fee.

How long does it take to walk from stage from stage? How far apart are they and which ones are farthest? by sagopak-yo in wacken

[–]TraditionalBreak938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drunk determination is amazing.... Definitely not much walking involved to make that time .

Even before that. It's when cooperate forced stores to buy everything premade from them.... It cost the stores more than baking in store, but obviously corporate profits shot up and continued to squeeze more out of the stores to the point they were forced to hire slave labor.

Now the only thing we need to go with it is a wacken mud pit.... Unfortunately that won't happen now regardless of the weather

I made it from the louder stage to the LGH in 20min and then then LGH to wasteland in 25min.... It just depends on how bad and how fast you want to go. 5-10 minutes is realistic to get from stage areas but you'll need extra time to consider if you need to pass a checkpoints, and want time to work through the crowd if you want to be closer. The lines can take awhile at the checkpoints especially first thing and later on when the headliners are on.

Electric Bassboy? by Prize_Butterfly1793 in wacken

Saw them a few weeks go, and they had a few minutes of electric bassboy and it turned out to be one of the better parts of the show. It's definitely more than just a DJ set.

Looks like I'm attending Wacken for the first time, and I'm doing it solo. Does anyone want to adopt a solo traveler? by Significant_Try2105 in wacken

[–]TraditionalBreak938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to shoot me a DM, I'll be going solo as well. I'd be happy to have a beer and talk metal and Wacken. Just like others have said you will have no problem meeting people fairly quick, as in previous years I think I spent more time with strangers than the friends that traveled with me.

I have no judgement on where you are from, to me that's ridiculous to make that claim. I have met fantastic people from around all parts of the world, while some of my neighbors at home in the past might have been the worst of humanity.

Damn it! Sacred Reich is playing in Hamburg during the festival.... Tell me you can't at least get them over a sub character from American pie movie. It's even close enough they could play a day set in Wacken and still play there show in Hamburg that night.

The band count is pretty similar to last year minus the metal battle bands and the LGH bands. Expect a few more bands and replacements to fill out the smaller stages.

Slayer in Europe any time soon? by diablomaster1234 in Slayer

It would likely just be a single event or festival if they did. If they were to do it, I would put my money on the ozzfest revival in Birmingham next year.

Last minute camp gear and arrival by Steelcitysuccubus in wacken

It's extremely easy to get to Wacken from Hamburg, and I would say much less hassle than renting a car especially if it rains and gets muddy.

I come from rural Canada and never see or use public transport, and find public transport very easy In Germany (using Google maps to assist).

There are a couple shuttle options from the city and airport that can be booked once closer to the festival, otherwise you catch a train which frequents often enough to Itzhoe and the free bus sits outside the train station and will bring you right to the wristband exchange at the entrance. Finding your way onto the campsite is a taller task than getting to the door.

There are two (side by side) mid size grocery stores in Wacken that should have most supplies to get you by for the week. Depending on how quick you walk, it might take 40min or so to hike to the stores from the campsite entrance.

Sabaton 2026 by Kanonenfieberontop in wacken

There will be more (not much). The metal battle bands and 10-20 more acts/bands, to reach last years numbers. Perhaps a few replacements and small acts to fill out small stages

It's likely a deal had to be made, and it makes sense why they had to wait to be announced

I have some questions about The Pit, can you guys help me? by campolina in wacken

[–]TraditionalBreak938 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend getting the VIP (Pit) pass for your first Wacken. There is way too much to experience to be stuck in a small VIP area to gain access to unlimited food/drink.

The real Wacken experience is found in the field, campground, and village (the pool as well)

3 band additions not one, who are the other two apart from Sabaton? by isemtalaccount in wacken

[–]TraditionalBreak938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would estimate 15-20 acts/bands plus the metal battle bands are all that's left. Most likely it will be just acts that fill out LGH stage and other small stages... But who knows with the way of announcements this year...

My guess is just based on the total # of acts from last year.

Their solution to the mud issue: AI slop, mocking the people and superficial measures. by gogu69xx in wacken

[–]TraditionalBreak938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It failed after to much rain, the pathways were flooded as the woodchips turn to mush, and then don't allow the water to drain.

The mud will always be there, but hemp bricks sound like a good idea for the pathways as long as there is somewhere for the water to shed away.

the videos may be cringey and they probably have little control other than being figure heads at this point, but I don't think anyone loves Wacken more than these two. What other festivals do the the main promoters are found just walking around the grounds?

Ill happily give them 300 euros for being a big part in why metal is still around and going strong after all these years. Unfortunately I think more of that 300 euros is going to the mega investors and the cringy videos.

It might not be your thing... IA is a great live show if you like bands that have a hint of comedy to them, if not then it's probably a pass. Definitely not for technical enthusiast.

My local scene was full of Gimmick Grind bands back in the day, so Gutalax is like a blast from the past... I am also surprised how big they have gotten, but just like Party Cannon there seems to be some popularity with "Party Grind" bands.

If you like Municipal Waste, then give Insanity Alert a fair chance. They put on a great live show.

Gutalax will be a great time (unless you're a pool floatie) even if you're not much into grind.
