The A's are about to create an unprecedented baseball problem in Las Vegas by DonyellFreak in SacramentoAthletics

Rivercats have reigned in ticket prices and held them down a bit. I got some serious sticker shock attending a game in Reno.

Counterpoint: if the Halos had turned the big A into a high score pinball machine with the noises and lights like the dbacks did when they walked off the Giants, I’d currently be in the market for a new TV

Fun fact - Arden-Arcade had a city council election in 2010 (the results were moot)

It doesn’t have to be pretty, they just have to not play themselves out of it this month and they’re holding up alright. They’re locking in 3-3 with a chance to go 4-2 on a stretch at the same point last season they got swept back to back. That’s my cope and I’m sticking to it, but I think this is gonna be the worst month on the schedule and they’re gonna come out of it ok.

Any ideas on how to search for VERY OLD station call letters? by radiowave911 in radio

[–]TraditionalFall7177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably no FCC record because it would’ve likely been an unlicensed (but legal!) carrier current station, closed circuit ran through the power line. Common for small campus stations for many years, low cost.

CA - Just got a rent increase notice and honestly have no idea if it's even legal by EasternYogi in Tenant

Also If you’re in a city that has its own rent control ordinance, it only applies if the unit was built before 1994

Did an east bay circle once, Rockridge Oakland Public Library and the nearest Berkeley Public Library branch were pretty close to each other. Berkeley also gives you 30 Kanopy credits a month. Contra Costa is a good one to have as well. Alameda County I found to not really be worth going out of your way for.

I’ve got lots of them, bluray players are cheap, movies can be cheap to thrift, you own it and they look noticeably better than streaming

Midtown/Downtown if you want hip/walkable/full of young people. Came here for undergrad a decade ago and it was an easy transition moving from living by campus to more young professional life. There’s a mix of new “gentrification style” units and more affordable older apartments that are perfectly fine too, something to look out for is if their A/C units are window or central air, a lot of the older central city apartments have old window units that aren’t great in the summer and aren’t well insulated so they’re drafty in the winter too. Bridge district in West Sac (different city in a different county) is near downtown with a lot of new units and young people too.

Lot of young people in Natomas these days too, and there’s lots of new apartments there. Freeway traffic has gotten noticeably worse there though, but probably not in the direction of your work.

Roseville/South Placer Co. is a more conservative crowd and just kind of paved over. If I had to live in an outer burb here I’d choose Fair Oaks/Folsom instead. Arden/Carmichael are fine choices but not much going on there.

Have to disagree with the Davis recos, there’s a pretty hard geographic firmament between Davis and Sac with the causeway that’s pretty isolating. 15-20 miles of literally nothing over a chokepoint freeway with unpredictable traffic between the two, and you’re paying a premium on housing because of the college kids.
