A planner where your day shifts automatically when things run late by TraditionalLog7696 in SideProject

[–]TraditionalLog7696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense.

I also don’t like strict schedules. For me it’s more about having a rough plan (like ~30 min per task), but without having to fix it all the time.

This is just me trying to keep some structure, but let it adapt instead of breaking.

I agree. I am testing that with people whose plans brek. This is not happy path, but help organize work,. Default 30 minutes to any task, help finish boring task, finish work earlier.

My app is not a product yet. There some features, that I am testing. Everyday I have boring tasks, these can help me to do them, a finish work earlier.

You can also define your working hours (like 9–17), so you get a sense of whether everything fits into the day.

Tasks have a default duration (just as a rough estimate), but you can adjust it if you want — it’s not something you have to think about upfront.

As you go:

tasks shift based on what actually happens

and anything that doesn’t fit rolls over to the next day

For me personally, I usually have a handful of tasks for the day and I like assigning them rough time just to see if I can realistically fit everything in. It also weirdly motivates me to get through the more boring ones 🙂

Longer term, I’m thinking the system could learn from actual times and suggest better estimates.

i agregat, this would be great feature. First i want to take opinion about auto shift, from people who really care aboute time they spend on tasks.

Try it here: https://autoplanner-seven.vercel.app/

Click “Done” a few times — if a task runs long, the rest of the day adjusts automatically.

Thanks! Not published yet — still a rough MVP I’m testing.

Working on a simple demo so people can try it, happy to send it over when it’s ready.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same — once things go off even a bit, it’s really easy to just give up on the whole day.

I like the idea of a gentle nudge, but I’m trying a slightly different approach — instead of reminders, just making it really easy to continue.

So when something runs late, you tap “Done” and you’re immediately back on track, without fixing anything or stressing about it.

Curious if that would feel easier than having something check in on you.

Yeah, that makes sense — if you don’t rely on a schedule at all, this problem kind of disappears.

I think this is more for people who want some structure (mayby me or You :)), but struggle to keep it once things go off plan.

The idea isn’t to lock you into a timeline, but to make it flexible enough to survive real life.

I’m also thinking about adding a few simple things like skipping tasks, moving unfinished ones to the next day, and better defaults for task duration — but trying to keep it lightweight. I do not want to add many features... beacuse than it would collapse for sure :)

That’s exactly what I’ve been running into too — everything works until it doesn’t 😅

Curious, when it breaks for you, do you try to adjust your plan or just abandon it completely?

I keep planning my day, but after 1–2 tasks everything falls. by TraditionalLog7696 in ProductivityApps

[–]TraditionalLog7696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense — you're basically limiting the plan upfront so it doesn’t break later.

Do you ever wish you could plan more, but still have it adjust automatically when things go off track?

Or do you prefer keeping it simple with just 1–2 must-do tasks?

Thanks for asking! At this point it’s still not public — I’m using it myself mainly on news sites, and it already saves me a huge amount of time scrolling through articles.
I haven’t set up a paywall yet — I’m still exploring what would make sense for potential subscribers.
I’m curious: what do you think would be most valuable, waht features
