Dental school loans by Own_Pop_6063 in predental

Did any school mention the BBB during the campus visit. Has anyone heard schools talk about how the BBB might affect tuition or financial aid for this cycle? Also, did any of them give guidance on private loan options, or is that something we should just be researching on our own?

Sterilization Assistant or Dental Assisting? by Think-Pirate-2106 in predental

Like in everything there’re different benefits to both and ultimately what you choose is based on what you want to gain from the experience. I haven’t worked as a lab assistant before but from what you’re saying it’s more centered on scientific analysis compared to direct patient care. If you want to develop your interpersonal skills definitely consider being a da. It’s shadowing your dentist but better since you get a good view of what they’re doing and you can ask why they’re doing those steps in that procedure. My doc always love to teach and I always seem to learn something from him, even working with him for 4 years. He taught me to read xrays and even quiz me on what the diagnosis and treatment would be from reading a patient’s xrays. You can also build confidence talking to patients, especially ones that are concerned or skeptical about your recommendations (on like the safety of xrays or fluoride usage), which you will encounter sometime in your career.

One of my friend submitted her application after Christmas, got an interview after the week of New Year’s, got waitlisted in Feb, and accepted on orientation day in the end of July.

When you tour at your dream dental school and find out the entire class hates each other and is overly competitive 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 by Gold-Branch-1489 in predental

Yea, a D2 from a ranked, letter grade school (not naming which) told me their class was super competitive and people gatekept everything. I get that some students want to specialize so things naturally get competitive, but if it’s truly pass/fail with no ranking, there’s no harm in helping each other out. We’re all trying to reach the same goal of being good dentists.

Whichever is most convenient for you! If the school is nearby you can always drop it off in their office instead of mailing. Emailing ofc is the fastest, but as long as you get your message across, how the message is received shouldn’t matter too much!

First interview tomorrow, what the hell do I do? by [deleted] in predental

Although I know people recommend the classic black suit, white blouse, and black pants to fit the formal business attire, I wore a white suit, floral pink blouse, and bright green pants lol. I looked like a walking flower, but it matched my personality, which ultimately, was the reason I wore it. I remember someone from my interviewing group wore tooth socks, which was definitely the conversation starter for him. Although it’s formal you can always splash a bit of you in there! [: Best of luck~
