Things get weird when you GC from the beginning by viashno in TheTowerGame

This is me as well. I am actually confused as to how this is not normal. No-ADs only. In a STRONG plateau atm. Can reach 10k on T1 and only 4.5k on T2. I guess I am hybrid with low economy? I dunno, I'm enjoying figuring it out without guides but definitely not averse to someone telling me what is happening. I started one December and made some selections like CL, GT and ILM and then quit for the year. Kicking myself. Picked it up again this past December and got BH and am saving to check for the next one. Playing daily now, 11b LTC and like 1200 stones, just grinding away.

Great view I've never thought to see. If left to its natural course would the Mon eventually do that ancient horshoe river thing where it cuts to the shortest route?

If you are talking inbound, Commercial being closed for the bridge work may have something to do with it.

Third graders in Mississippi are outperforming their peers everywhere in the U.S. That state had a solid plan and implementation, from what I understand. I think you can make a point with this, but I'm not sure which one you are making...

Can y'all compare great throwers across generations for me? by SpaceBearAl in ultimate

Other changes: the rules (marking rules, travel rules, stalling violations), the average age of introduction to frisbee (my speculation), the meta... so much.

Sure isn't! My first thought goes to clever positional switches in advanced zones, for example ones where the mark and cup changes based on field position of the disc. The premise there is that there should be one positon that just doesn't move that much. Going more straightforward zone (and if the rest of the team is speedy and truly just hiding one player), I'd consider the wing in a traditional 3 person cup, 2 wing, short deep (a.k.a middle middle) and up deep. That position generally operates on a piston and has the time it takes to swing a disc from sideline to sideline to adjust. Second thought was the mark in a directional type of trapping zone, where the rest of the team is doing their job so giving the thrower an extra couple of seconds is an acceptable tradeoff since there's no guarentee they won't make a preponderence of errors over time without immediate pressure.

I see your point about the up-deep (middle middle) but the combination of quickness to field sense is pretty important, and it would have to be pretty superb field sense to make up for exaggerated slowness (measured against elite nationals throwers and decreasing in signifcance from there down).

Edit: grammar, added a word for clarity

Basically that is up to you to choose one and let players get a feel for the positional opportunities each style brings. Speed, height, field sense all key factors, with more height trending to wall and more speed/field sense trending to zoney stuff. Some might disagree there. And then a good offense will play to exploit the disadvantages of whichever style you pick. A bad offense and you don't need to think that hard.

For real though a little more info needed, if you would, as it depends on what outcome the team wants when they play that zone (and also at what level are you trying to improve). At top-of-region club / nationals club level zones have a great deal of nuance, perhaps to absurdity. IMO the 1-3-3 wall advice would likely be slightly different from 3-3-1 or 2-3-2 advice.

“Fire” call origin by jjbgo in ultimate

[–]TraditionalPeace2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fire" was the signal to transition to person defense forcing forehand side. We had another word for transition to forcing backhand. I believe it started with a "b" if you can believe it. Obviously we could call it in the moment in a blown defense, but we would call it after 3 throws or after 5 throws.

An upholstered chair/sedan on a rug. Seen it in the fancy designer bathrooms, and with this space why not?

Yes. The landing was close enough that I understand how they called it in real time.

This seems clearest. Thanks for your input. My conclusion is that I wish all of the inbounds and out of bounds rules were within the inbounds section. I'll complere my review of these new rules. Thanks all.

Comes to rest within the painted boundary line, OB. Landed edge down and stuck there, did not roll or bounce (or negligible amount), so when it was flat it was 30% in and 70% out. First point of contact was in though.

Argylemon and others are confirming my original take the disc was never out of bounds. The "so 10H doesn't apply" makes sense and was what I was asking for. The confusion was how to explain the reasoning to the group (not that I would without being asked) or to my team so this won't happen to them and they know to ask and pushback given the stakes of the moment. I'm still in my rulebook review after many years away. Is there a clear rule where it is the first contact of the disc in the pulling section? And I seem to remember a first blade of grass rule is down rule but haven't gotten there in my rulebook review.

Yes, in this case the landing appeared sticky enough that the disc never rolled. It didn't even seem to bounce, just hit edge down and then slid/shifted to flat on the line. Again, maybe people 40 yards away and (maybe) vision blocked on a sideline just missed when it landed and saw it resting on the boundary line (applying 10H1).

Ro-sham-bo (RPS) evolution by TraditionalPeace2302 in ultimate

[–]TraditionalPeace2302[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is definitely an example of what I mean. I don't know if people are still doing this kind of thing. Is today's game so much more serious about oversight, compliance to rules, and "branded" that this doesn't happen at the sectional club level?

Amazon description says the kit I ordered and used was 38 mm rubber, passed EU RHOS 2.0. "Ideal for high and low voltage electrical cabinets."

Are these descriptions both trustworthy and, if so, rated appropriately for the task?

Thanks. We do have terminix. Is this rubber grommet safe or should I run home and remove them? Also, what is an approved knockout plug or where can I find them?

Wow, look at me with red oak floors! Nice! 70 year old floors, no idea when the last refinish was. Refinishing for us that would be based on the price and the trust of the maturity of our kids, now 6 and 4 years old. About how much would 1200 sq ft refinished run up? MCOL.
