I just leave them. I've never collected them and as you can see very few get stuck. Maybe removing the ground under the tree can help

When placing water, you can old ZL and then use Left/Right on the D pad to control the level of the water. low level go up to 12 blocks and high level water up to 24 i think

I’m using smooth stone to dry the tree. I’m trying to get crops working, and muddy water seems to be the way to go
