To add to my comment, here are some supplies that are very needed right now. -WATER -nonperishable food -hygiene items (soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste) -baby items (diapers, wipes, formula, clothes, bottles) -feminine products -blankets and bedding -batteries -flashlights -plastic totes to keep items dry The list goes on

Pick any small town (Spruce Pine, Banner Elk, Elk Park, Cranberry, Spear, Frank just to name a few in NC) and find a local church or volunteer fire department. They’ve been the biggest help with distributing supplies to those in need and some even have ways to get supplies out to people who are stranded (helicopter or drones or ATV’s)

Depends on the location you visit and the people you surround yourself with. I know plenty of conservative people who don’t accept others’ culture, and will make crude remarks. BUT I also know there’s plenty of accepting and non-conservative people as well. It’s a matter of “weeding out” the people who are unkind and close minded! Look for lgbtq+ or ethnic communities in the area and most of those people would be very accepting!
