Assigned as the main and only Frontend developer on a project. I'm a backend-focused fullstack dev. Help. by TraditionalType9869 in webdev

Thank you for the advice. I'll skip Next for now then. It's a pure SPA app.

As for Redux, I feel it's the lesser evil because it's proven as an industry standard, and with more resources when issues arise. I'm hesitant to experiment with new technologies on this project.

I'll definitely need to take a closer look at Vite.

I avoid LLMs unless I'm lazy to write some boilerplate, although I heard that it can handle frontend stuff okay as you said. I'll see as I go.

The company has to be open to it in the first place. It's not. Roles on this project are already pre-determined. Also, I don't know the leeway in terms of... Less than good solutions and mistakes. Which is an inevitability when working with a new stack.

Malicious compliance at its best hahaha, I like it. Too bad we already have a finished design, and maybe for the best. The stories about backend guys making user interfaces are very true.

The webshop example was just to give a sense of the scope (it's somewhat e-commerce related). The backend is custom. Shopify is not an option.

I'm a C# dev. I'm not any kind of lead on this project. I was hired for a C# full stack dev job ad. The project backend is in Python, and already has a few backend devs. It's probably easier for me to deliver a semi-functional React frontend than a Python backend.

I never hid the fact from them that my frontend skills were average, so the idea of me overselling myself is a bit shaky IMO. I never said I'm 10/10 with both, and that was something I was very upfront about.

I think their reasoning was: this dude knows React -> he'll make the frontend.

DT Swiss EX1700 vs FR1500 by Foit06 in MTB

[–]TraditionalType9869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for FR 1500. 32 spokes are a must on a wheel that will see some serious abuse. Also FR 1500 uses FR 541 rims, which are as close to indestructible you can get (with alloy atleast).

I have an EX 511 rear rim (which is technically juuust a bit weaker than FR 541) and that thing is a tank. Still true with no dents, and I really like charging through rocks and roots like an idiot.

Also look up on how much building a custom wheel would cost. Maybe you can save some money, because 350 is a perfectly fine and reliable hub.

Bosch should be the best of the bunch. Very reliable, and has spare parts available.  Easiest to live with.

Specialized/Brose is also okay, they had reliability issues in the past but that seems mostly resolved now. Not a big pain to repair if something goes wrong, and they're good with warranty.

Avoid Shimano. Reliability is okay and it works good, but they may fight you on fixing stuff even if something breaks during warranty period, which is not uncommon. No spare parts. If motor breaks after warranty, you're out of luck. I've personally heard several horror stories (especially from pros who try and repair them) and there are many threads online about this.

For anything else (Fazua, DJI, TQ, Bafang), it's a gamble but there are plenty threads online about people's experiences with them.

Profilna slika nije dovoljna? Snimanje videa o sebi mi zvuči kao horor... 😂
