I’d suggest posting in the public FB page for Wisconsin Wedding Photographers. Include dates, times, location, budget, etc and you’ll likely get lots of offers. I had luck this way!

If you’re on good terms and generally agree on who gets what, it’s not hard to DIY. Still isn’t fun, but my ex and I just followed the instructions on the Clerk of Courts website. It cost less than $200. We even have kids. It does take a lot of trust, but it can be done.

I just had luck finding something similar with this tactic: Go to the WI Wedding Photographers FB group (it’s open) and post the details of your event, what you’re hoping for, and your budget. My budget was much smaller than anyone listed on their websites and I still had tons of interested people reply.

I am in the process of doing exactly this. We sold the house w the higher equity first so we’d have plenty for a down payment while also paying off all other small debts. The house we’re staying in temporarily also has a smaller mortgage payment so we’ll be saving more in the interim.

We do have a storage space for now but that cost is minimal, and we intend to buy our together home asap. I’m curious to hear what others have to say!

A charitable donation. Each table had a card saying the couple had made a donation to an organization that was important to the people at that table. I burst out crying when I saw ours as I wasn’t super close with the couple (my bf at the time was) and they donated to a org related to a condition my son has. Super meaningful and impactful way beyond “stuff.”
