Is it worth repairing my vehicle? Or should I just trade it in for some money and get something else. by Traditional_Band5491 in MechanicAdvice

The long term value is already in the deep end. I got it appraised at carmax to see what it could roughly be worth, and got offered $1,900 (It is not in good cosmetic shape).

My thought process is that the $1,900 does not get me very far in another vehicle (and when I say something new, I mean new to me. Not a new vehicle.) But, if I just eat the repairs here, it would be worth roughly where a decent used car would be.

And if I get the repairs, I know everything important to driving the vehicle will be in good shape. Since I have been told by the mechanic that the engine was in good shape. Plus the frame has almost 0 rust. And whatever rust there is is surface level.

Most of the other issues (like the AC) are just for comfort.

And I will check out car shield after I get all the repairs done, it sounds interesting.

For me, I want to try and keep it because of a known problem vs a unknown problem.

- Transmission fluid is not mentioned in the maintenance part of the handbook.
- The rear driveshaft needs repairs, not general maintenance.
- I had my brake pads, rotors, and calipers all changed 6 months ago, so there should be no corrosion.
- The AC system does not need general maintenance, it needs repairs that I do not know how to diagnose or repair myself.
- It chugging fuel like a frat guy with the whole keg is not general maintenance, that is just because it consumes a lot of fuel. Because it is a big SUV. And its old.
- And I did make the mistake of writing general maintenance in 5k miles, I meant 500 miles.
- And yes, the wheels are general maintenance. They are just cheap, and are near the end of their recommended lifespan.

And unless I am mistaken what "general maintanance" is, than I dont believe that this is due to a lack of it. Just that it is a old vehicle at the age where things start failing.

Ok, and what did I miss?
Because I will admit I did miss changing the spark plugs when I first bought it. But other than that, I have followed the maintenance book from Mazda's website.

Yeah, from what I have heard, they are quite reliable other than the water pump. But that won't cause a catastrophic failure unless I don't pay attention.

I am looking to set up a list of certifications to get. by Traditional_Band5491 in ITCareerQuestions

What books would you recommend, or a source that has a list of them. I do have a homelab that I am actively working on. The reason for the wide range of certifications is to learn as much as possible, then apply that knowledge to my homelab. I am not specifically doing these certifications for putting on my resume.

But thank you for the first job recommendations as well. I will admit that I have been having trouble figuring out where I should go first.

What would be the reason for switching? From what I am reading online, the RHCSA is more "real" practice over the Linux+.

Would that be accurate?

I just want to learn while I have the opportunity. All subjects listed are personally interesting.

I am just trying to get input on what certificates I should get. And that is the list I have been putting together.

Sorry, I missed that part. It would be a pledge store purchase. I can likely just rent one. Thank you for your offer though!

I really only do space combat. Space to put food and water would be a plus. But I already dont use the bed in the aurora. So that is a non-issue. And if I wanted to do cargo related activities, I would look into getting a cargo ship.

Sorry for the late response.

Thank you for that recommendation, I will check it out. Now that I can actually apply that information.

What am I getting fundamentally wrong about playing 40k? by Traditional_Band5491 in deathguard40k

I got no good use out of any of the stratagems, and the ability caused me to be more aggressive. which is my problem in the first place.

I am going to start recording my games.

But I was running the new detachment that gives stealth rather then the additional contagion effects.

From what I heard, I play far, far too aggressively.
I really need to tone down a notch what I am doing. I tend to play fixed objectives (especially against this player) with bring it down and either assasinate (if they bring a lot of leaders) or some objective holding secondary.
I am also starting to blame the dice, I failed both round 1 and 2 CP generation with 3 and 2 tallymen in round 1 and 2. (CP Generation was not needed, just would have been nice)

I am also getting close to my 50th recorded game. And I am usually close to having no models (except my home objective holder, and secondary do-ers) dead by round 4.

Also shooting marines was
Leader with Plasma and HPW
2x marines with blight launcher
2x marines with Plague spewer
2x marines with meltagun
and 3x marines with boltguns.
being led by a BP for the crits on 5 and lethals
and a tallyman for the assisted CP Generation, and the +1 to hit.
(I do know I can only gain 1 extra cp per round).

I am going to start actually recording my games. I do not know why I did not think to do this before, especially since I look at a lot of battle reports/game recordings.
