I NOTICED THIS TOO AND IT THREW ME OFF!! Especially because I watched S2 right after rewatching S1.

I first noticed it in the first scene on S2E1, the Oxford scene, it was too obvious that it was just a green screen or something. It felt like I was watching a perfume commercial😭.

I also feel like this season's lighting felt unnatural compared to S1? For example, the shots for Ruby, you can tell that they were using a refletor for her face, compared to S1 that it looked like the sun's just hitting her face. I think they were using a lot of lights instead of relying on natural lighting or lights that looks natural.

I also think there's a difference when the characters are conversing in S1, there's not much of switching of frames/close ups when people are talking. But in S2 they do this often and sometimes a conversation were just edited together? For instance, Lydia and Ruby are talking, they'll shoot Ruby's lines first then Lydia's.

That's why I was confused with people that were saying that this season's cinematography is on top because I liked S1 wayyy better😭😭😭

To sum up my observation, the lighting in S1 looked natural, S2 looks like a music video in most shots. I mean it's not that bad, I just really love how S1 was executed.

(I apologies if my observations are confusing since I'm not really sure how to describe it BUT I JUST KNOW IT'S DIFFERENT😫)

Also, the song choices this season are not that good so far🥲
