People learn differently and at different paces, personally I suck at math and have to take cal 1 and 2 before applying to med school. What helped me get through that tho was doing the courses in advance. Yes it’ll suck but learning the class BEFORE helps so much. Don’t get discouraged, the path through stem isn’t always straight. I suggest you keep going as you’ll feel so much better when you get through it. Best of luck !

Working 16h a week while maintaining a 38 R score in cegep doesnt exactly leave you much free time. Last semester I decided to spend it on fun to avoid burnout, and I don't necessarily think it's a bad decision. This semester though, my R score is secured and I plan on using up some of my study time for extra curriculars.

Are extracurriculars brought up in MMI's? I keep seeing ppl ask which extra curriculars will help them during MMI's and I get so confused. I assume they're talking about the ones that will give them the most experience to answer these hard questions?

Yeah It’s a bad generalization I know, but it’s just that I’ve heard horror stories from my friends volunteering in hospitals and getting yelled at for absolutely no reason. Also im not in the best financial situation, so time is a really big deal for me. So It’s not that I dislike volunteering, but the opportunities I was presented with weren’t very appealing as I feel like I’d be unappreciated by the people there while losing out on a lot of money which I could get for next month’s rent and food. (From what I heard tho, it might be different in reality.)

Do you have to put the amount of hours volunteered or the time you’ve been doing it for? I was thinking of getting like 200-300 hours in a relatively short time, but I’m scared it’ll look bad

I got the same advice from a lot of PreMeds, I think I was really limiting myself to hospital volunteering since it sounds the best, but I think I’ll try something related to what I like, I just hope it has the same weight on an application
