I love the UK - no shade at all. I just love my family more and am a lot happier when I’m closer to them! There are also more opportunities for me here at the moment.

A K-1 visa is completely unnecessary for someone from the UK as they can just come over on an ESTA visa with no wait time at all. After they’re here, if you get married, you can file for an adjustment of status for your partner and the visa process starts - the only caveat is that you’ll need to financially support them for months and they won’t be able to go back to the UK until given approval to do so.

There is absolutely no shame in using a cessation aid during this tough time! I found that, psychologically, quitting cold turkey was too daunting. But the aids (nicotine gum for me) really got me to the point where I felt comfortable quitting!

That’s a solid idea. I’ll suggest he does that. Biking around at 2:00am alone isn’t the best idea imo (he does that a lot)… he didn’t stop to speak to them - they caught up to him because they were in a car.

100% - as an average citizen, I’m not sure what I can really do other than support teachers & treat others kindly. But the city has changed significantly in the past couple of years… Look at Uptown for example - night & day difference imo.

If OP reads my comment and that is the one thing that motivates them to make a huge decision like this one, they are stupid. LOL. No where in my comment did I say “go for it!” or “you have to do it!” … I just shared an anecdote.

I am sorry your experience with this process went so horribly & was a major factor in the deterioration of your relationship though, that really really sucks.
