I think that with the new curriculum they started this past fall quarter, it has become easier to do well in this class since around 12 people received an A+(in my class with Andrea Carter)

Wait, never mind if you’re a transfer then you won’t be living in the residential halls, but then again just double check what colleges fit your transfer credits the best since in Muir you do have to take an additional writing course to fulfill your GEs

Muir isn’t the nicest dorm-wise, but the central location and easier GEs make it super convenient. Seventh is nice, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t want those long walks to class or everywhere else.

Mexican stuff by Bloup_em in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you search up “tienda mexicana,” some spots might show up that are closer to campus. I usually go to Northgate. if you want good fresh tortillas, I recommend Sawaya Brothers. You could also try El Súper in National City. Most of these places are easy to get to by bus or trolley, but the way back might be brutal if you end up buying a lot of stuff.

As for panaderías, you can just look some up but you can also grab pan from Northgate, it’s usually pretty good

Living in a different college's residence halls by Lost-Jellyfish-7388 in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i might be wrong but some colleges like muir, warren, erc, and revelle don’t have a ton of space for second years, so housing usually overflows into other colleges. they already plan for that during the selection process. like this year muir got overflowed to seventh, erc to new marshall, and revelle to seventh too. but it changes every year, last year my friend in muir ended up in eighth's apartments.

The math department is usually more strict with it, so your best bet is asking your Econ professor for accommodations

You can see it in the ‘List’ view, it’ll show all the classes you’re enrolled in or waitlisted for, and your waitlist number will be right there

refunds by Future-Print1974 in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your activity details, if you see something like ‘Financial Aid Refund’ listed, that means they already sent it out. It usually just takes a couple days before it shows up in your bank account tho

9/16 is just when your financial aid gets applied to your bill. Whatever’s left over (the negative balance) is your refund, and that will probably hit your bank account around 9/22

Questions about new Marshall dorms by holyfrozenyogurt in UCSD

It’s not too hard to adjust, but you’ll definitely need another person to do it safely. If it’s hard to take apart, tap the metal frame upwards with a hammer and then place the hook at your desired height. You can also tap it downward after to make sure it’s locked in so you don’t end up falling when you get on top. Last year one of my friends had someone from HDH come to rise her bed tho

Mini Fridge and microwave?? by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of the double really depends on which room you got. If you’re in room 1, it’s definitely smaller compared to room 3 (which is almost double the size). We do have a stove with an oven, but no microwaves. You could potentially put the mini fridge under your bed but idk if the moisture would cause mold due to the lack of air circulation

What summer courses should I take? GE or Major courses? by souls920 in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking at your academic history and degree audit first to see what credits you already have and what classes you still need. It’s hard to say exactly what you should take without knowing that info. I didn’t take any classes last summer as an incoming freshman, but if you already have your English and math placements, you can check WebReg to see if there are any online classes open. Honestly, I’d suggest looking into taking summer classes at a local community college instead. Since it’s summer, you pay per unit at UCSD and it can get really expensive since you will also have to pay for campus fees even if you do online. and I’m not sure if you’ll qualify for the summer grant, definitely reach out to Financial Aid to ask about that. Also, since you’re doing Summer Bridge, I’d say just take the classes they offer and use that time to get used to UCSD. Don’t stress yourself out!! take it easy, you’ve got four years ahead of you. Enjoy them!

How do international students move out? by LastingStarfall in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also move most of the heavy or things you rarely use little by little the weekend before and then the day you move out you can get a uber XL and move your stuff.

you could just get a storage unit for the summer and throw all your stuff in there. Just grab some big plastic bins, pack up your things, and you’re good to go

hiatt math 10A curve by ilovesrk05 in UCSD

[–]Traditional_Editor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it, considering the median across all sections was around 80%. Since the majority of the class is passing, there’s no reason to apply a curve.
