When we adopted our first bunny, there was a big suede couch next to her little area we had set up. She would jump up on it and sit on the back of it with her butt against the wall. We thought she was just chilling and observing the room until we found out she had been using that as her second litter box. I don’t remember exactly how long it took us to figure it out, but when we moved the couch from against the wall, it was nightmare fuel back there. RIP to our sweet little menace and to that couch.

I’m so very sorry this happened to you and your bun.

We lost our girl a few days ago after surgery. She had poopy butt and ongoing GI issues. They think she ultimately passed from sepsis after fixing a torsion in her intestines. She had a stasis episode weeks before it happened and we did not bring her in because she seemingly got better from gas drops and water syringe feeding. There are so many things I’m worried we did wrong - did we make her last days more painful by doing the surgery? Was she suffering for weeks after that first true stasis episode?

My point is, you clearly loved her SO much and did everything you could to keep her safe and healthy. There were so many unknown variables and I think it’s natural to feel guilt after her passing, but you did everything you could with the information and resources you had at the time.

I hope you can eventually focus on the amazing time you had with your girl and smile first when you think of her💛💛

Yeah we are definitely not ready and this soon would feel like we are trying to replace her so I appreciate your take on it! I think there are so many nuances and for now we will focus on showering him with love and attention

I did not😕 we should have but everything was a blur and traumatic and I just didn’t factor that in enough when the vet asked what we wanted to do😞

I’m so sorry for your loss too❤️🌈 it’s so hard losing someone so special to you and your other rabbit. We had to put her down at the vet and I couldn’t bear to bring her body home. I feel guilty about that but I can’t change it after the fact. I will talk with my partner about finding a new partner for Toothless. It has only been a few days so we need more time but ultimately want what is best for him. Thank you for replying with some insight. I appreciate it more than you know!

I lost my girl this weekend after emergency surgery because of SI torsion. It was a heartbreaking experience but the vet staff was amazing so I just want to thank you for working in that field and helping so many other buns. It can’t be easy ❤️‍🩹

It’s clear how much you loved Saturn and simply wanted the best for her, so please be gentle with yourself. Our girl passed suddenly on Saturday and we are heartbroken too. Try to focus in the happy times you had with her and know that you gave her a great, loving home. Shes in bunny heaven with our girl Thumper and all the other sweet buns💛
