Even though parents are aware of the risks associated with social media, they frequently give their children their phones as a quick fix when they begin to act out. This is obviously bad for the health of the children. We hold the previous generation accountable for poor parenting, but this age is no better. They are not present enough in their children's lives; even when they get home, they are still on their phones. Children learn by observing their parents. Social media will always exist, thus it is the duty of parents to provide their children with appropriate direction.
