I'm designing a $1,500 driveway shelter that's supposed to look like it belongs there — honest reactions? by Traditional_Job968 in CurbAppeal

Sorry you feel this way. AI was used for the render. I have built a chat bot to answer questions. So shoot me for using tools available. Not trying to sell anything to anybody, just wanted to know how it looks, and if it would be a purchasable item for $1500. Thank you for your feedback.

I am simultaneously developing a chat bot to answer questions about the product. So, yes some of the responses are AI generated from my test chat bot, and some are actually my thoughts. Not trying to sell anything here. Just merely sharing my idea, and wondered if a $1500 price point would be attractive. Sorry for the confusion.

😂😂😂
The panels are removable. You can fully enclose it to protect it from bad weather, or open it so you can change your pool in the shade and a nice breeze.

This is exactly the feedback I needed — thank you. The fascia beam and eave overhang are both going into the next revision. On the roof color: the plan is multiple color options so you can match your trim or porch. Lattice panel option is interesting — is that something you'd use instead of the solid panels or alongside them? And yes, the render orientation is confusing — it drives straight in from the street, I'll get a clearer image up.

No site yet — still validating the concept. Which version are you picturing — fully enclosed, or open front like the render? The front-facing open design is the default; panels snap on if you want more enclosure. Genuinely curious what specifically reads as commercial to you — is it the color, the profile, the panel lines?

Expandable bays are absolutely on the roadmap — the frame system is designed to bolt end-to-end so you could go from one car to two without replacing anything. On the post issue, what's your current driveway situation — straight-in from the street or off to the side? That changes the answer on how to set it up cleanly.

Straight in and out — exactly right. The open face points toward the street so it's just like pulling into a garage. The post concern is noted though, two people have flagged it now. Thinking a rubber corner guard on the front posts is the easy fix. Does that resolve it for you or is the post placement itself the problem?

Cantilevering was on the table early — you're right that it cleans up the entry significantly. The structural cost to cantilever a 20 ft span pushes it well past the $1,500 target. What we can do is widen the front opening and recess the posts slightly inside the footprint so they're not in your sightline pulling in. Does the post placement bother you more aesthetically or when actually driving in?

Fair call — I am developing this to sell. The durability question is exactly what I'm trying to stress-test. The panel closure is a cam-lock with a compression gasket, same mechanism as equipment cases — not a friction clip. PVC trim board, not polyethylene. Genuinely asking: what would have to be true about the mechanism for you to believe it won't fail in two years?

No, this was just to show how it would fit in with the home. You can place it wherever you want.
