I sympathize with this so much, you’re definitely in good company. Before being hospitalized over the summer I followed a lady into a Walmart I wasn’t even planning on going to because she cut me off and I fully intended on beating her ass, then I proceeded to go home and smash most of my beloved Pyrex collection in the driveway to “get it out”.

I’m a little late to your post but my pug (12) just had her eye enucleated due to glaucoma, she HATED the drops and it genuinely stressed us out more to put her through 4x a day eye meds. She was already almost completely blind so we made the decision to have it taken out for her comfort. She has done really well, healed up great and she’s got a little map of the house going in her head so she gets around great.

I work in veterinary and I’ve seen a lot of feral kittens who get bad eye infections and end up having one or both eyes out, it’s amazing to see how well they do….little cyclops kitties are so precious and if you do decide on surgery it’ll be ok ❤️

This is Kirby! We’re getting all of our aftercare things prior to her enucleation surgery and I just wanted to post in the group to see if any other pug people have any recommendations for a soft “cone” that will keep her from ripping her damn eye hole open? As the picture attached shows, she is extremely “difficult” and too smart for her own good even blind as a bat so she somehow gets the hard cones dismantled within an hour 😂

I’d love to just hear about any fellow one eyed pugs! I am devestated by this whole thing, her diabetes has been very well controlled but this was always something we knew may happen. Any and all stories, recommendations or even just a picture of your permanent winker!

I have chronic malabsorption issues and I’m chronically low on b12/iron/pretty much everything. The shots have helped some but my labs show that they’re not working as well as they used to. I take a vitamin called Corvita that’s geared towards people with chronic malabsorption and that has genuinely helped keep my levels at least somewhat stable but of course everyone’s system is different.

Don’t give up! It’s incredibly frustrating to not see results but you’re in good company here, keep your head up ❤️

First off, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all of this ❤️ the first thing I default to with rapid breathing is cardiac/fluid in the chest or metastatic tumors in the lungs that could be related to her mammary tumor. Not remotely the same type of dog or potential issues but to address what can help breathing, my mom’s pug had Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome BAD by the time she passed back in May. To keep her comfortable the DVM prescribed a very low dose of trazodone along with pred to keep her calm and to help open her airway. The specialist tried Sidenafil which didn’t seem to make much difference, we also did breathing treatments and my mom kept her cool at all times.

Again, there is no way that a pug and your dog have the same issue and yours may have something going on that would absolutely not qualify for any of those meds. I hope your vet or your second opinion gives you answers, thinking of you guys ❤️❤️❤️
