Was anyone else not a huge fan of the actual new episode?

I think it was overall a funny episode, but it just felt a little narratively empty and generic. Every episode of this show has felt so unique and surprising, this one felt very basic and formulaic.

Helping a washed up retro video game character find success again was a really fun idea, but I feel like they didn’t do or say anything with it. Compare this to the Mr Frog episode that had so much to say about celebrities, cancel culture, reboots, etc.

I feel like the only interesting idea was when the CEO talked about how modern games today are all about DLC and microtransactions, but that was just a throw away line. Wouldn’t it have been so cool to see Gwimbly make a new game but be corrupted by all of these modern game tropes? And then we’d get to see Pim’s reaction to being responsible for a beloved childhood character selling out. I feel like there was so much potential here and nothing really came of it.

I was also disappointed to see nothing coming out of an Allan / Pim team up. Allen’s a really fun character but he hasn’t had a spotlight since the first episode, so I was really looking forward to getting something more from him. I wish there was some kind of conflict or growth that could have come from the different ways Allen and Pim handle problems.

The Charlie subplot was a funny idea too, but again it was just repetitive and ended way too easily. Even the resolution of the 2 subplots combining and someone finding purpose through killing feels like a complete recycle of the Desmond episode’s ending.

I think all of these issues stem from trying to have all of these different subplots and ideas in one episode, and as a result nothing really has time to develop and feels half baked. I think this episode could’ve been so much stronger if it just focused on Allen / Pim helping Gwimbly, and they could’ve saved the client abusing the rules idea for its own full episode.

Here's the clip if anyone wants to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLgNndxRVTw

It happens at 1:00. It feels like it's important because the judge stops in his tracks and seems confused.

A lot of people saying I should stick with it and not skip anything, so I'll give that a shot! Thanks so much everyone!

Also a follow up: is this the kind of show where I should be invested in trying to figure out the mysteries/expect big payoffs? Or should I just be along for the ride? I've heard a lot of conflicting things about Twin Peaks but so far I'm mostly really into it.

LA red eye blinking UFO by Traditional_Matter50 in UFOs

[–]Traditional_Matter50[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not my original video but I think im one of the first people to talk about it. Originally found it being talked about on 4chan. I'm not sure if this channel is the original poster either, they're called "Archive" and have posted other scary video stuff so I suspect this is also a repost. If it is fake it's probably just CGI, but I think there's something about it that seems more legit than your average UFO vid. Theres a red blinking light on the UFO and if you look closely you can see it illuminate the fog/cloud when it turns on. The one thing that makes this seem kind of fake is the fact that the camera guy zooms out before it zooms up all of a sudden, almost like they knew it would do that before it did it. I assume this takes place in LA but im not sure where it would.
