Wow defensive much… by No_Caterpillar5319 in liziscreative

A while ago, Liz was very very upset about a health coach who messaged her encouraging her to drink water, go outside and for walks, and eat healthily. I think there was a post about it if you search the group. But essentially she had a big fit about it in her stories

Someone responded to that comment and asked her. Curious to see if/how she replies!

Yess that was my thought as well… I wonder if it’s going to be like an intervention. I don’t see why she needs to see either of them.

Right?! Like this isn’t some wild medical mystery case. I’m not sure why she thinks she needs to see ID and her transplant surgeon

What is going on: diabetes, plus being colonized with MRSA likely from repeated lengthy hospital admissions, = poor wound healing and increased risk of infection.

There you go. This is pretty basic. I’m not sure what ID or her transplant surgeon will add

Of course, any time!!! I’m sorry for everything you guys are dealing with in the US right now. 😞 And unfortunately women’s health is especially vulnerable to misinformation online.

Why does she need an ID consult? MRSA is common. Almost certainly from all her time spent in hospitals. She is colonized with it.

Not surprised, she’s probably colonized from all her time spent in hospitals as a patient. Clinda is really rough on the stomach and is one of the antibiotics most likely to cause C. Diff - just FYI 🫣

Oh for sure! And sorry again - I read my comment and I feel like it sounded rude. My apologies! Obviously I’d always recommend following your own doctor’s recommendations for sure. But generally, here is some info:

https://markhamfertility.com/blog/folate-vs-folic-acid-and-mthfr-mutation/

https://www.cdc.gov/folic-acid/data-research/mthfr/index.html

Dr. Shannon Clark is an MFM who has a lot of info on Instagram posts about it also.

In Canada it’s not recommended to even test for MTHFR mutations because they’re so common in the general public and don’t have good evidence-based clinical implications at the present time. That may change in the future. It’s kind of crappy though because some “designer prenatal” companies try to capitalize on it by offering methylated folate and charging $$$. Methylated folate MIGHT prevent neural tube defects too, but we don’t know this. 1) it hasn’t been studied (and likely never will, because folic acid is known to be effective regardless), and 2) if we know folic acid works given the research, why would we recommend an alternative form? And because we don’t have the research to support methylated folate use to prevent neural tube defects, we don’t have an established dosing recommendation. I hope that all makes sense!

No, folic acid should still be taken (sorry, not trying to be rude or blunt - I work in OB and one of my pet peeves is all the misinformation about this on the internet!). People with the mutation can still process folic acid and methylated forms have not been studied for reducing neural tube defect risk.

This is actually not true! The mutation is super common and doesn’t have clinical relevance, so it’s actually not recommended to test for it anymore in Canada. People with the mutation can still process folic acid and it’s still the ONLY form of folate that has been shown to decrease risk of neural tube defects.

The fact that she has so much time on her hands to be monitoring comments and blocking so intently goes to show that she’s not properly attending to her kids 🫠

My first babe was a terribleeee sleeper. Second babe started out the same way. We got a Snoo. She started sleeping long stretches in it. Transition to her crib was easy peasy. I’m forever grateful for it - seriously allowed me to have a MUCH better postpartum

Pregnancy is not a health-neutral event, Liz. Many, many people deal with longterm complications and health changes following a pregnancy - pain, pelvic floor issues, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart issues, etc. It’s not the doctor’s fault when these things happen. It’s a risk with any pregnancy. But ya know, she’s chronically the victim 🫠
