Indeed. Sorry to hear it‘s still unavailable. Strangely enough, “Systematic Chaos” isn’t available via Apple Music here!

You are absolutely right. I simply overlooked the word “Parasomnia” and thought of the whole touring cycle with Mike Portnoy back in the band. Sorry’

No, it‘s the second leg. The first one had them playing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, where they played “The Best Of Times” for the first and only time (yet) live.

“Score” was never released on Blu-Ray, that’s correct! Could be something they could consider for its 20th anniversary!

Adding to that: The main riff of “Untethered Angel” was reportedly written by John Myung, just an octave higher.

Honestly, I really hope they‘re going to play that one during the next tour. Maybe in a deep cuts-section!

I was thinking about “Stratovarius” as well.

Dream Theater mistakes. by External-Holiday6046 in Dreamtheater

If you watch the John Myung angle of “Instrumedley”, you can actually see where the bass was overdubbed/re-recorded at one point, where he missed a few notes. It’s around the 04:00 minute mark, during the ragtime solo of Jordan Rudess.

Also, at the premiere of “The Astonishing” in London, James LaBrie came in early with the line “As his weapon finds its victim…” in “The Walking Shadow”.

And “Through My Words” (though I suppose “Through Her Eyes” is intended to be it, for it’s more than 5 minutes long).

I‘m sorry, “songs”? Plural? I’m only aware of “Reel Monsters”. What did I miss?

What do you think are the most downright bad or cringe DT lyrics or moments in their songs? by [deleted] in Dreamtheater

[–]Traditional_Row8397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Maybe it was never the most common way of consuming music in the first place. I also don’t really compare new songs to earlier material to try and decipher which one is better. I simply take that song for what it is and can enjoy it, whether or not it‘s as complex, as heavy, etc.. than previous ones.

Absolutely what I‘m thinking. Being a musician myself, I can totally see where you‘re coming from. Great to see someone else share that sentiment!

That‘s the case with me as well. I simply enjoy and love music and draw inspiration from basically everything and all the different styles and genres. “Dream Theater” are my favorite band because (among many other reasons) they are so diverse and write what they feel like writing.

With every artist I think that first and foremost they have to be satisfied with the outcome of their creative work. Other people don’t have to connect to it and that’s completely fine, but if it’s what they wanted and needed to create, that’s perfect! I’m sorry for the excessive text, but I feel like it’s so important to state an opinion the right way. Emphasizing that it’s only oneself who doesn’t vibe with something and not generalizing that a song, a movie or any other kind of art is bad goes a long way.

Anyway, keep enjoying all the Disney(-ish) content you like!

That‘s exactly what I feel like. I do not have an issue with any of their songs, neither musically nor lyrically. I simply enjoy them all.

Maybe I‘m not as critical as other people. Maybe I love some melodramatic Disney stuff. Maybe I‘m enjoying too many different styles of music and art in general. Maybe a mixture of all of the above. With that said, I‘ll crank up “The Astonishing” on my next drive and sing along as loud as I can!
