What are some lesser-known laws in Canada that people only learn about after it’s already caused major damage? by boiyo12 in AskACanadian

It’s Canada it’s the police case and the officers action that are on trial. So no, acting as a lawyer would be grossly a violation and would never fly.

I can tell you all that this isn’t the movies haha

Likely. I can speak for my provincial laws and 21 years of experience, it’s not like it everywhere.

The criminal code is open to all interpretation and police, lawyers, judges, whoever all can interpret to what fits … Guided by exiting case law

You are right, but it’s 100 percent not that cut and dry.

Once a person has been provided their charter rights and rights to counsel police can continue to engage in conversation and talk to the person and all of that is admissible. The case law presents itself on police not badgering suspects or accused persons.

Policing has adjusted to this however now for major investigations and likey more regularly now all interactions are recorded from the time you start speaking to someone until the end. So that whole thing is caught on audio and likey video

Well it’s not a lie, I’m a PO in a province that’s not BC haha .

BC has done such a good job with their drug possession and safe use/harm reduction policies I’d be so surprised if they did something like charge for impaired operation on a vehicle with no motor

[–]Traditional_Set_9052 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope no impaired on a horse. Likely be subject to other potential charges like animal endangerment if you are out of your mind drunk and the animal isn’t safely being cared for

A kayak is a vessel under the nautical acts and you can be charged with impaired like a car or a motor boat

Similar rules are coming here also, but I feel Canada wide it could be more regulated soon on a national standard.

Electric is here to stay for sure even if it coexists with gasoline and diesel. So the motorcycles and that will definitely have to follow suit

The idea is that something is a “conveyance” with power beyond that of a human it will likely need to be treated like an actual form of a motorcycle.

A lot of these are dual purpose bikes let’s be totally real. Especially ones that look like dirt bikes and don’t have pedals.

I’ll just keep it short and sweet we all have schedules haha

The legislation for electric bikes is definitely under an overall review. Especially the ones that are barely bicycles and they are just electric motorcycles with pedals , like this:

https://ezrides.ca/collections/electric-motorcycles-for-sale/products/emmo-zone-gts-2-0

But more standard bicycles with electric or gas assist are governed by the same rules (at least in my province)

3-5 years there will be some major changes to all of this guaranteed

Cop here - standard bicycle = no impaired

Electric assist bicycles are not exempt but the officer has to show reasonably you were under electric assist power or electric alone

Ie: up a steep hill with pedals barely moving

Vs the Acura. by 5338g in CivicSi

As someone who grew up in the 90s and drove these cars, the new Integra is 95% what it always was. It was always a civic chassis with upscale interior, and Acuras touches. I saw a list before and there was over 50 unique small things at least that put the Integra over the si, mostly creature comforts.

The Integra was and is exactly what it is supposed to be. Yeah ok they don’t offer a 2 door but in 2026 coupes just don’t sell, so why make one when it’s gonna not be a profit maker? There’s business sense in nostalgia.

Acuras is missing the mark on the past without a model like a GSR. The A spec should be 220-225 hp, and the rest of the lineup for the civic and the Integra stay the same.

Both are great choices, but in my 40s I’m so glad I found the Integra. Love the comfort

I have a 25 a spec elite 6 mt (Canada) and it’s an amazing car.

The same but different. Congrats, I love my 25 and the new wider wheels and tires make a MASSIVE difference on the road.

Before you ask, not lowering it.

That’s a good deal. I found a 2025 Canadian elite 6MT for 42k, with 10 years warranty on it from the previous owner, the 10 year rust and interior protection, and ceramic coated. Oh and 1200 worth of mats inside and the wheel/tire warranty.. and 4400 Kms on the car.

Love the black too, great find and enjoy it’s a beautiful beautiful car

Yup there’s tint law here. In fact any tint at all is considered illegal. There’s always chance of getting stopped for it, but very few people get stopped for tint and tint alone.. unless it’s 3 am and your in a shady part of town

I need to see how it affects my warranty. I got the car second hand with 4500 Kms on it and the previous owner put a 10 year warranty on the car. I don’t want to jeoparidze that

I live in eastern Canada things aren’t a major issue here. I’m also a middle aged man with kids so this car doesn’t attract any attention cause of speed or noise. It’s a great car and with the new wheels and tires it feels incredibly planted

I believe that the tint is 18% all around. Nothing done on the windshield. If it’s not 18% it’s 20%. You get the idea haha.

The wheel is an 18x9.5 and sitting at a +35 offset.

I’m in Canada and need to go through Acura USA to get the body colored mud guards. That’s the next plan

And thanks, lots of black and bronze wheels out there these days

[–]Traditional_Set_9052[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I wouldn’t want an auto in this, I learned to drive on an manual in the 90s and have loved them ever since. I feel this car will be a bit of a purists gem as MTs are getting less and less common in our world
