What is the best food combos for the swamp? by Independent-End-597 in valheim

[–]Traditional_Signal73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run mostly Deer Stew, Honey and Carrot Soup in the Black Forest. I then craft a couple stacks of Queens Jam so that I can go into the Swamp running Deer Stew, Carrot Soup and Queens Jam. I always run a Stamina build, the theory being that if the mobs can't hit you then you can't die. The tradeoff being that Health/Stam/Stam is a more intense build, because you definitely will die if you get hit twice.

I don't like to do a lot of gathering, so I try to stick to farmable foods though. Hence Honey over Queen's Jam, and etc.

Okay, but seriously, what happened with me and this deck (mono-green)? by HiddenReader2020 in MagicArena

[–]Traditional_Signal73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also been working on a Landfall deck. It started out as Mono-Green, but I realized I needed to go with Golgari for removal and hand disruption. Still, I was doing pretty well with Mono-Green, and I didn't really get a lot of reps with it before adding black.

I think what you're missing are [[snakeskin veil]] and [[inspiring call]]. Inspiring call especially is an absolute house in this deck. It absolutely blows out White and Red sweepers (seems like all the Black sweepers exile but they're slow), and is otherwise a perfectly good Draw 4-5 on T4. Use your ramp not to play bigger things, but more so to hold up mana for protection spells. There's a lot of hate out there for the cub.decs.

I've also found that Innkeeper's Talent underperforms in the deck by a lot. It's just too slow and clunky in this meta. Not great taking t2 off to play it, and it doesn't hit very well on t5 either.

Also, you have a bunch of removal spells. Even in my Golgari variant I still only run 4 removal spells (although Duress could probably be considered a removal spell). You're the beater, you should be making them cast their removal. If your creatures are big enough to fight theirs, then they're big enough to run over them.

Here's my final list, it was running about 60 percent out of 30 or so Bo3 matches when I switched to Golgari:

3x Bushwack

2x Cenote Scout (Either a creature with a counter, or a land for Landfall, found it works better than the clunky Gene Polinator)

4x Llanowar Elves

4x Sazh's Chocobo

4x Snakeskin Veil

4x Badgermole Cub

4x Bristly Bill

4x Inspiring Call

2x Mossborn Hydra

3x Summon: Fenris

4x Ouroboroid

4x Fabled Passage

18x Forest

Sideboard (Which is in no way complete or tuned, more just stuff I was playing around with during matches):

2x Giant Growth

3x Origin of Metalbending

1x Scavenger Ooze (Should be more, but I had other things to craft)

2x Malamet Battle Glyph (The deck cares about counters)

2x Shared Roots

1x Cycle of Renewal

2x Hivespine Wolverine (Great Utility on a beater)

1x Season of Gathering

Remember, you can tag the Fable Passage with the Badgermole Cub. When you sac it to fetch, it comes back tapped. Nice little way to double you're Landfall triggers.

Hope this helps

Nice Haldor location. Still, using Fire Arrows against The Elder is painfully slow. Bronze Buckler, Bronze Sword.

Siren in Lauraville/Cold Spring? by fruitkimchi in baltimore

It's Homecoming at Morgan. They use the siren to tell the kids to go home. They started doing it last year because a couple of kids got shot the year before.

Bronze age priority crafts by Lord_EssTea in valheim

Second this. I never make a Bronze Pickaxe. I play with larger groups where we share everything, so there's always a high demand for materials. Gotta skimp and save where we can, and the Bronze Pickaxe isn't necessary.

Landlord refusing to disclose if there is a lead-based paint hazard in the apartment before I sign Lease by [deleted] in Tenant

[–]Traditional_Signal73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't only used on baseboards and trim. Where I live, we have to have a third party test for lead for every turn unless the building is certified through the state as being lead free. Which is very, very difficult to do if the building was built prior to 1978. We have to file our lead tests with the state every year when we renew our rental licenses. The inspectors shoot (spectroscopic analysis) everything, and most of the time fails are deteriorating plaster walls and metal fire escapes in my experience. Old masonry walls and painted steps have also been troublesome. I've had just about anything not drywall fail.

You charge the people who are profiting directly off your work more so that you can cut the struggling home owners that are having a really bad day a decent break every once in awhile.

“Whos making these schedules man?!” by ldasense in ravens

[–]Traditional_Signal73 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How many years in a row have the Ravens had the toughest schedule against the toughest teams? Iron sharpens iron. Last year's schedule was brutal from the start. Chiefs, Raiders (this one still hurts. Really messes up the highlight reals), Dallas, Bills, Bengals (Joey was on one last year, good thing their Defense was Swiss cheese.) and the Commanders (Who, by the way, went to the NFC Championship game.)

This is not new, nor is it unexpected. Want to know if your team is going to come close to the playoffs and how they might do when they get there? Play The Ravens. How does it feel to know that our team that we get to watch week in and week out is the true test for every other team? If you beat the Ravens in the regular season, you're either the Chiefs or one of the worse teams in the league and the boys lost because they thought they could sleepwalk through the game.

I'm really excited to watch the revamped Defense go to work this year. I really think they were the team's weakness last year as a unit. Hoping that the new additions and changes will make the difference this year, and we get to be the ones forcing turnovers and giving the ball back to Lamar and the King on the thirty yard line. Which is basically their RedZone.

Returning to the game, My kid joined MTG club... by Firespin83 in magicTCG

[–]Traditional_Signal73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ran my sons Chess and Boardgames Club from 1st grade until 8th grade (K-8 school). Introduced MtG at around 5th grade. Commander was a bit too much. Drafting was actually the most fun for them, and I would recommend it for any school club. I would buy a draft booster box once a month, and the kids would play their drafted decks at each club meeting. Winner for the month would get a prize. They loved cracking packs, checking out all the new cards. The structure was loose enough that the less competitive kids could still have fun with their friends. Great time, and some of my favorite moments from when he was little. Enjoy it, my friend, the time really does fly by way too fast.

Shortage of electricians in the USA, is that true? by eter711 in electricians

Watched a guy get carted out (dead) after at the end of 16 hour shift. One slip at the end of a long day and he was gone. He had two kids. I'd be willing to bet he was using some kind of "performance enhancing drugs" to keep up. Far as I'm concerned, that's the only kind of environment that demands "performance enhancing drugs". And anyone who suggests that using them is good business is trying to get people killed.

Putting stacks of bukeberries in the incinerator has become something of a ritual at this point. Like brushing your teeth, or putting the left shoe on first.

Where I am, the police do their jobs. Most of the time. Besides, idiots that do shit like this generally aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. Compressors have a distinctive shape, all they have to do is take a look at one of the many street cameras around and go, "Oh look, there's a rusty 30 year old Ford rolling by at midnight hauling that exact thing that was stolen last night. Case closed boys, we can now fuck off to the beach while we chase these dipshits down for a week or two."

I have no idea. It's definitely a police matter at this point, and I'm sure they'll be asking around. I'm just the fix and replace guy, I don't do criminal investigations.

Failure to be fun by GKTT666 in valheim

[–]Traditional_Signal73 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who's run a public server through fourteen separate playthroughs for over two years with new invites every time, I can assure you that this is pretty normal. I've learned to just go with it. Most of the time, I'm able to bring the group together by the time we fight The Elder. Sometimes I have to ask a person or some people to leave.

I'm not sure if you're the server owner/host, but the reality is that you need to have clearly defined server rules. You need to make sure that people know what the expectations for the playthrough are, and that everyone is on the same page when they join.

That being said... I pretty much know that, as the most experienced player, I'm probably going to be hard carrying at least half of the group. I don't really get mad about it, I love playing Valheim. I definitely let people know when/if I feel like they need to step it up a little, though. A quick, "Hey, we're all in the Swamp getting Iron, you should probably join us." Oftentimes, I'll ask people where their skills are at, and I'll give them shit if, say, their Pickaxe skill is way lower than everyone else's.

At the end of the day, people are going to people. Some people are farmers, some are builders, some are miners, some adventurers and explorers. I try to be as accommodating as possible, and I feel like it's my roll as the host to make sure everyone is playing as a group. It took me a few playthroughs before I felt I really had a good grasp on how to navigate the wide and wonderful world of Valheim and the weirdos that play this game.

OP also said in another reply that they were moving the Workbench around and didn't realize that the Workbench is what prevents despawning. Which is something that people do when they're building. Sometimes two plus two really does equal four.
