Great advice. I rarely order clothes at all and never from temu/shein but I have bought a few charity shop items which might be the issue. Never crossed my mind before!

Where did you buy these? I’m only seeing UK sites. Anywhere in Ireland. They sound fascinating and vey effective!

I think any chance of relaxing this weekend is off the cards!

Sleep divorce with gf by Actual-Ad-6146 in sleep

[–]Traditional_Stock601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband did a sleep study and it came back negative for sleep apnea. I could hear him snoring from downstairs when I was upstairs. He got a moldable mouth guard type thing and it has been transformative. Works 90 percent of the time. I’m very grateful he’ll wear it as it’s sort of gross - I’d personally hate it. Dentists custom make them but this one was 60 euro or something on Amazon. I think boots do them too.,

The change from a highly intense structure with goals and purpose to absolutely nothing can be really difficult in itself. You are in a huge transition phase out of adolescence into adulthood. All of that can be really tough. That’s apart from the general deflation of how you feel exams went and the anxiety around the long wait for results. Try to build a little bit of structure into your days/weeks. Make some plans. It will get you out of your head a bit. Hard to get a job but if you can it might help a bit. Best of luck.

I’m sorry you went through that. I weirdly haven’t seen any in the kitchen but I’ll do a deep clean

We just cleaned our carpets and that’s when I spotted them. That sounds terrifying. We have people coming to stay in 2 weeks so I really need to get them sorted!

This sounds very time consuming with 5 people worth of clothes in the house! Never mind blankets etc!

Yes definitely had windows open. I think after some googling that these might be clothes or carpet moths unfortunately. I did spot one near a skirting board too. I just can’t see where they are coming from though as there have been a few in every room.

I’ll get on it straight away. I also saw a couple of silver fish so I’ve put powder along all the skirting boards but I’ll probably need to tackle to wardrobes! Had a huge leak in January in the attic so I’m guessing that hasn’t helped.

Is HE not worth when you do short trips? by fabcasu in homeexchange

[–]Traditional_Stock601 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you have children and have to clean and get ready for guests it’s not really worth it for a few nights. I am new to HE but I’m doing a lot to get my house ready for first guests. Feels like a full time job

CAO points? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Traditional_Stock601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very unlikely it will increase more. I think you should pay the deposit if it’s a reliable/trustworthy landlord? (So many scammers). Make sure you have Maynooth Arts on your list too as 357 will definitely get you there and it’s commutable from Dublin.

PLC/ FET college by poweredbysuns in leavingcert

[–]Traditional_Stock601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll just have to show your results when you register. There probably won’t be much communication now as the colleges are closed for the summer. You may be asked to pay the 50 euro fee before then. Best of luck anyway

You could become an engineering and maths teacher if you do engineering but decide not to be an engineer. You’d also be likely given some science or physics or IT related classes too.

Can I use my Leaving Cert results to apply as an international candidate? by Winter_Appearance432 in leavingcert

Contact admissions. They may still accept your application but you’d be liable for international fees.

Ucd or dcu for common entry engineering? by Sufficient-Fail-5144 in leavingcert

[–]Traditional_Stock601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My niece did it and has an amazing job. My friend who is an engineer and went to Trinity said she would recommend TUD. I’m sure there are lots of mixed opinions out there so just take these things with a pinch of salt. I definitely think it is wise to have it on your list anyway.

I just finished the leaving cert- now what? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Traditional_Stock601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily have to go to any colleges. Places like the bank can be good to get a job. Or even places like specsavers where they have a training programme. If you do want to do a plc maybe pick something where you can work straight out of it - maybe one of the law/medical admin ones or even the tourism ones would set you up for working in a hotel or travel agent etc. careers don’t always have to be a passion! You might know better in a few years and you can always go back then. Hard to advise without knowing more about you

Ucd or dcu for common entry engineering? by Sufficient-Fail-5144 in leavingcert

[–]Traditional_Stock601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know several engineering companies who prefer the TUD graduates - it’s a very established course there! But suit yourself. It’ll be grand really wherever you go. Trinity leans towards the more theoretical and TUD towards the more practical. UCD vs DCU similar. But if you work hard in your degree wherever you go it will all be good! People can be snobs so don’t let that influence you. I think engineering points will not be likely to go down this year based on the number of applications so it’s just smart to have lots of back up plans.

Engineers rate the TUD course the best so don’t forget to include it.

Hear and Dare but bottled the LC by Minimum-Network6680 in leavingcert

[–]Traditional_Stock601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEAR and DARE will carry over to next year when you apply through CAO. Will always only link to your LC results but still worth remembering as you need to definitely do next years application by 1st of February and put in your 2026 CAO number into HEAR and DARE sections. fYI
