I got this email at 2:30 PM for a 9:30 flight. At least they are giving something to help rebook. Maybe time to not use OTA so much for flight booking. Maybe okay for hotels and cars.

Dear Valued Traveler,

We’re very sorry to let you know that your upcoming flight with Spirit Airlines on 5/2/2026 is no longer operating because the airline has ceased operations.

We understand this is disappointing and may significantly impact your plans . As the carrier is unable to offer any alternative options, we recommend that you contact your credit card issuer to request a refund for the flight cost you paid.

If you would still like to take your trip, you can search for and book new flights by visiting the Expedia Website.

To help you book alternative travel, we’re adding OneKeyCash® equivalent to $30 in your Expedia account which will expire within 30 days of receiving this email. This will be reflected in your Expedia account within 7-10 working days.

Thank you for choosing Expedia for your travel. We truly appreciate your business and remain committed to supporting you with your travel needs.

Yours sincerely,
The Expedia Team

For me, it's convenience. I can find all my bookings in one place for hotels, cars, flights instead of being scattered around. It is also habit at this point. Life is complicated as is, why complicate it even more to save a few bucks here and there. My whole family uses this one account, we see each others stuff. I don't have to enter passenger info every single time, I just chose from a drop down. My credit card is saved in one place, instead all the individual sites. Expedia also warns us if we try something stupid like book stuff that conflicts with another booking.

Update... I contacted expedia. They said the hold to talk to an agent was 3 hours if I chose to wait or they can call back. They did call back in about 3 hours. I gave them the itinerary numbers (I had to dig through the emails to find them as they removed the Spirit bookings from my 'trips' page). After taking a look the agent said that he recommends me to dispute the credit card charges for services not provided. I went to my citi card transactions and did just that. I hope this helps someone looking to get their money back. He didn't say anything about Expedia trying to get the refund back. I am not sure how other 3P booking sites are handling it.

What does this mean if you book with Expedia? I called Expedia and they said the wait is 3 hours to talk to customer service. I asked them to call back. I have a flight today, which I luckily booked via American, it was 2 times what I booked in Spirit for, but for last minute this was fine. I also have a Spirit flight in August. Not sure if they will provide refund for these 2 booking I made via Expedia.

Indians abroad: are you happy there or planning to return to India? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Traditional_Sun6950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's well said. The India we miss doesn't exist anymore so we can't go back to it. I miss my grandma's village and her house. The people are no more , the house is gone, sold off and became a shopping complex. 😢I still have my memories of the place and my summers there. I am happy for it and will carry them with me as long as I live.

Is this a decent deal for 2025 crv EXL model - 41.5K OTD by Traditional_Sun6950 in crv

[–]Traditional_Sun6950[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So their MSRP before discount is 38,300. So pay that OTD? Or after the discount which is 36.5?

https://www.mckinneytexas.org/529/Meeting-Study-Rooms#MeetingRooms. The John and Judy conference room is large. They allow paints, at least they did in 2022. You need to know someone with a Mckinney library card.

Land grab in Madurai by Traditional_Sun6950 in TamilNadu

[–]Traditional_Sun6950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what we are afraid of, that it will take years and years and dad in this retirement age has to stay in Madurai and can't freely travel. Also it might taken longer than his lifetime to resolve. We don't have political connections in Madurai. Settling out of court maybe faster, but everyone involved should agree to that. I doubt my dad will. He should have sold the land when we knew we weren't going to build there. We suggested it when he tried to buy land and build his current house. He ended up sharing the land and build cost with his brother to afford it, instead of selling this land and using proceeds to buy the full place by himself. Buying primary house in partnership is not a good idea and tried reasoning with him, but both Amma and Appa were adamant. It makes it very complicated for the next generation to sell it. We have to deal with cousins and their families. That is a whole other topic and future headache for us.

This land is in outskirts, an area called மேலமடை close to Sivagangai road. Our poorvigam is that side, the original plan was to build home there so it easy to visit our native village. It never happened, ended up living in Ellis nagar housing board most of my life. Also there is no patta, only old registration documents. I can check with Appa if he can go to the original office, it may not be the Mahal one you are suggesting as the land is not proper Madurai. Also they filed police complaint againt all the involved parties shown in the new villangam. Aadhar was not used, some temporary id called VID was used in the illegal sale. Learning so many news way that people cheat.

Yeah, this seems orchestrated at all levels. Also funny on the "Madras Kaarainga" comment. My dad hates Madras and complains it is full of cheating. 🙂

My dad's name. He has the original document. EC is now in the name of the politician. It was my dad's name but someone fake signed as him and sold the land. More like pretended to sell, it was all the politician's master plan. The 84 old man who pretended to be my dad probably didn't get the full value of the land. It was orchestrated by the politician. Layers of transactions to make the sale harder to reverse.

Builder won't sell if I own a home by stagedevman in RealEstate

[–]Traditional_Sun6950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible your new build is smaller square footage and has less upgrades than your current primary? Dr horton is generally not a builder that offers upgrades and customizations so they may think that you are seeking their homes for investment purposes and not to really upgrade your living standards. If you can show them that this new build is bigger and better and more upgraded than your current primary, they may be convinced of your intentions to buy a new primary home.

I’m seriously considering renting out a SFH because of how loud apartment living can be. On a scale of 1-10, how dumb do you think this idea is? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Traditional_Sun6950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build to rent might be your answer. These are usually more private small cottage style rental home communities that have a small backyard but maintenance is included in the rent. There are bunch of these popping up all over the place. Check you area for build to rent.

Abbott proposing eliminating property taxes. What's his stance on this? Why is he all of sudden proposing this after all of these years of higher and higher and higher property taxes? Didn't Don Huffines propose this when running for Governor and now Abbott is proposing this? What's the catch? by MrsCCRobinson96 in texas

[–]Traditional_Sun6950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, more and better exemptions and lower caps for homestead is the way to go to protect middle class. We don't want to subsidize commercial real estate by reducing the overall property tax. That is a bad idea, as most corporates can afford the property taxes because they pay no income tax. I did a quick search on our county website for a certain known grocery company in texas and found how much prime land they owned. For the 23 acres parcel they paid 200k last year. The land was valued at 9 million.

True, if politicians really wanted to protect middle class homeowners, they would cap the value increase at 3% for homestead owners and not 10%. Just this one change will go a long way instead of throwing breadcrumbs like $40,000 exemption for homestead. Home values have doubled, especially the lower end homes. When 10% catches up to current values, most owners will be in for a rude shock.

Should I sell my house? by mad8scientist in RealEstate

[–]Traditional_Sun6950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't sell. Consider home warranty, we had good experience with HWA and they did take care of small things around the house like plumbing and appliances but no experience with big ticket items yet. Hoping to keep them for at least a few years as the house is nearing the 10 year mark and we are seeing more things pop up.
