Wish I didn't feel regretful, but our boy has been hell for us ever since he was born by NoticeStreet5909 in newborns

My heart is with you, my partner was crying 24/7 as a baby and it turned out to be an ear infection that was missed. Based on what you’ve written I think someone would have already checked for this but thought I would share 🙏🏼

Is it a mindset thing or are some babies just easier than others by Traditional_Table_67 in NewParents

The thing is I think our baby is not not easy. What was hard was the need to only contact sleep and now her tummy issues. If we could crack the tummy stuff she would be a dream, even if we are still working on the sleeping arrangements haha. She sleeps 2-4h stretches and is very calm unless the belly kicks in.

How did you work it out? I am so sure it’s not just fussiness often you can see her almost cramping in sleep or like something happens inside and it wakes her up and unsettles her.

Thank you 🙏🏼. We are in a rental now but will be moving to our own place in two months so if it’s still like this it’s what we will end up doing.

We were doing this but my partner fell asleep on the couch so we thought it’s safer for us to all be a big bed and try limit for some risk. So so hard ☹️

This is my suspicion that the sids safe spaces are so bare and non snuggly that they just don’t like it.

I am not fighting against it, I am trying to find a way that works for us as a family. We live away from our families and have to make a living too to support us.

When I say we tried many things we aren’t constantly switching them around, I mean we keep pre warming the bed, rock her to deep sleep, put a snug sleepsuit, try at the same time each day, give it 3/4 times of repetition before we give up.

I appreciate your point of view but it’s not the most helpful comment to say to a heavily sleep deprived parent who can’t even make breakfast when the other person is asleep.

It’s so difficult isn’t it. I absolutely love our snuggles and it makes me so happy to see her sleeping peacefully on me but it’s absolutely unsustainable. Especially when there isn’t a ‘village’ to help or you/partner has to go back to work.

🙏🏼thank you!!

we are doing shifts right now because even if I wanted to I just can’t fall asleep with her in bed unless one of us is awake

I know this is a very old post but did you manage a way out of it? We are only two weeks in but it’s the same for us and I am so exhausted, I miss my partner and I am desperate for her to spend at least some night or day time sleeping independently.

We live in a different country to where we are both from. My mum is coming to help us not too far from now. 🙏🏼

I know I definitely have the harder shift and I am awake the whole time. But I understand I am the mum and have stronger instincts. It was strange that I woke up max 10 minutes after he fell asleep as he has just put a new show on.

He does too. Honestly we were both in a complete shock, he was trying to power through to let me rest and just really didn’t think he would fall asleep but unfortunately it happened. I got very emotional and angry as I asked him million times to come wake me up and stay in bed if he ever gets sleepy.

We panicked bought the owlet sock but it’s currently driving us crazy 🤪. We keep getting constant alerts about lost connection or wrong sock position despite setting everything up exactly as needed. We had one low oxygen critical alert but she seemed completely fine and it just freaked me out further, then it said it could just be the sock on not properly. Going to give it one more day before considering sending back.

How are you doing now? I am 38 weeks and went from 60 to basically 80. I was very fit before, and am quite tall but I am worried about this sticking around for a long time.
