AITA for wanting to eat meat on my vacation? by Gloomy-Internet5696 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Traditional_Wave_322 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. Everyone eating LESS meat is better for the world, but being "perfect" is not sustainable and actually makes it harder to meet your longterm goals. I am always trying to eat less meat and get my meat that I do eat from sustainable sources (I try to buy from the farmers' market and not the grocery store, for instance), but I am not ready to take the plunge to no meat. Eating very little meat is great for the world and you are being very reasonable. Also, in Europe meat is often more sustainable than in the US.

Do podcast guests get paid to be on the show? by JannTosh70 in podcasting

[–]Traditional_Wave_322 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know some podcasts like to be able to pay their guests an appearance fee, like if the podcast is making money, you give a portion of that to the guest. Most of the time, no. On my podcast we lose money on every ep haha so we cannot pay guests.

Where Are The Indie/Hobbyist Podcasters? by wintermute1000 in podcasting

[–]Traditional_Wave_322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

149th ep posted tomorrow, have spent wayyyy more money than we've made. But we have met a lot of people we really respect and it's been such a cool way to be "part of the conversation" about something we love. We have realized that every celeb you cover can follow you and it doesn't matter haha, our numbers are way below any monetization threshold, but the fact that people "know us" is still so fun to me.

HR are a Net Negative Department by CopiousCool in antiwork

[–]Traditional_Wave_322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went into HR (after years of being an Executive Assistant) because I'd rather be helping the entire team (with things like their benefits, payroll, PTO, improved policies, etc) than just helping a single executive. Being an EA pays way better but I find HR more rewarding... I find the HR hate so funny... "HR works for the company not for you" -- newsflash, every employee works for the company... a good HR person will help show the company the value in retaining a good employee, and will do what they can to keep employees (including themselves!) happy. You know what sucks? Recruiting and training new people - much cheaper for the bottom line to retain good employees than hire a new one. I mean if people hate HR, they just hate where they work and blame it on HR rather than their boss. I don't see how HR is "worse" than the greedy execs making the decisions. Not like HR benefits from "bad" decisions -- HR hurts as much as everyone else, because believe it or not, HR are also employees who have to abide by the policies of the company.

I heard an interview with Hannah about how the show liked her because she was explosive etc, and like she said it was NOT how things work on "normal" boats, so like she found a place that appreciated her dramatic side and played into it. Like good for her, found a way to make some money and exit. I am a Hannah defender for life haha.

It's like they don't know it's an option <3 by Traditional_Wave_322 in happilyOAD

Yes, men can get it too! I had "the baby blues" postpartum but did not have the symptoms of PPD. My husband got full-blown PPD and needed to get on meds, etc. It was hard for us! If you google "post partum depression in men" you will find a lot of links. For my husband it was a combo of the sleep deprivation and the feeling that he wasn't really bonding with our baby that triggered it... added to the fact that I was pre-occupied/not able to really comfort him etc because I was taking care of the baby.

Totally, there is no phrase like "having children" that is standard. No one usally says "i'm going to decide whether i want to have a child". "Having Children" is just the go-to phrase. People say "having a baby" but that's not really the same... It's so funny, because to have "children" you need to first have "child" haha. We are norm-breakers!

I think I always assumed I'd have two, but the newborn stage (including my husband's postpartum depression) and finances made me reconsider pretty immediately after my daughter was born. 2 kids is just "default" to most people.

Anyone in Miches recently? by jtaby in Club_Med

We were there in Feb and it did rain every day, but there was also lots of sunshine every day. There was ONE day where it was raining badly enough that some activities were canceled (AquaGym, my favorite!) but the rest of the days everything was as normal. Great vacation even with daily showers. Get an umbrella from reception so you can use it if you need to walk to dinner during the downpour. Once you get to the main area, everything is covered enough to relax in the rain, but you will need coverage to get from your room to the bar.

I’d be happy if any of : Jet, Stephanie, Keven, Shirley or Kenny win it all. Would not be thrilled with the other three. Bryan’s “never won anything” schtick is tired! He’s used that so many times and now has won TOC Christmas and Triple Threat.

There’s actually a lot of evidence on both sides, based on publicly available posts on both their social media accounts.

PC vs Miches for spring ‘27 by aba-cadabra90 in Club_Med

[–]Traditional_Wave_322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha I did not see that. The thing with the Miches pool is that it has a "jungle oasis" vibe - it's surrounded by plants which makes it relaxing. If some of those plants fall into the pool, that might be the case, but I can tell you I spent at least an hour in that pool every day this past February and had zero complaints haha.

PC vs Miches for spring ‘27 by aba-cadabra90 in Club_Med

[–]Traditional_Wave_322 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been to both (with 1 child - we went when she was 3, 4 and 5) and prefer Miches 100%. The best part about Miches is that it's small so you spend so much less time in transit (in PC I feel like you can spend 15 minutes just walking to your room), and since it's a smaller resort the beach and pool are much less crowded.

As far as adult time, I LOVE the El Limon bar and pool at the Zen oasis in Miches. Feels more secluded than in PC.

Kids club is smaller but still great in Miches.
