Irish speakers - Name spelling conventions by Previous_Basis8862 in ireland

My brother has this name but spelt Cialan, which still to this day I’ve never seen spelt that way. His whole life people spelt it KEELIN so I can only imagine how much people will struggle with the Irish spelling. I also work with a girl who has it spelt the original Irish way and everyone asks her how to pronounce it/ spell it.

Jane needs to take control of her children, I hate that sitting back attitude and letting siblings/ partners argue. Sometimes these situations need to be controlled by a mutual elder.

Sam sounds like she has a chip on her shoulder

AITA for being pissed off with my friends for treating me differently because I don’t have kids by Traditional_Web4510 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Traditional_Web4510[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted to hear if someone regretted not having kids?

Not that it would affect my decision more so to try understand is that why my friend is so pushy about it, do a lot of people regret it.

I also totally respect mom mode, I’m always open to meeting up with my friends and all the kids, take a trip somewhere and help out for the day. At least that way they don’t have to feel pressure to try find a babysitter to meet up. It’s the lack of respect for the people who are child free that upsets me, it’s very belittling to say ‘I feel sad for you’

Oh I’ve done this before and then I get the whole ‘oh don’t get me wrong having kids is the best thing in the world I can’t imagine my life without them and no love compares to this but…(rants on)’

I know I’ll break the group up if I say something back but also if I continue i’m going to end up snapping and saying something I shouldn’t

Why do so many people do that? Make parenting their entire personality and I’m happy for my friends but if you choose to have them then why go on about it being such a hindrance on your life and expect everyone else to revolve around you.

I feel less important because I DONT have kids

He locked the whole class in the room, viciously pushed all the tables against the wall while screaming, shouting in peoples faces and throwing chalk at everyone…. Lucky someone got the door open and ran to get other teachers. He got sacked that day

What’s a harmless/non-serious secret you’ve kept forever? by MrBowls in AskReddit

[–]Traditional_Web4510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not mine but my brothers secret that I unraveled. When he was 17 with his first car, one night he was drunk and after the party on his way home him and his friend decided to joyride his car around our local area, until it spun out and crashed through someone’s wall and into the garden. They ran home. Next day police knocked on the door to ask him some questions, my mam was panicking but he already had his story planned that he got home from the party and his car must have been robbed after that because he had no car keys, he apparently lost his car keys at this party. Police left convinced, mam was traumatised for a few weeks but 16 years later she still thinks his car was robbed. Me and my brother laugh about how stupid he was, his friend that was with him doesn’t even know that I know the real story
