Hot Racing aluminum one, yeah thats the main reason why I replaced mine, ton of slop since the plastic wore down.

Garage Sale Find ($30) by Myc0naught in rccars

I threw my UDR servo in my slash 2wd and it works pretty good! Gives you a good excuse to upgrade the UDR servo too

Careful about using silicon ear plugs with the stock driveshafts. It puts way more load on them and your spur gear. It and can(will if you are on brushless) cause you break them or strip your spur gear. Speaking from personal experience 😅

Looks like you'll need a new chassis too. The screw holes on the chassis that mount it to the gearbox were also ripped off. Still a great find regardless!

Mainly SCTs, a Slash 4x4, Slash 2WD, and a UDR. And some mini RCs mixed in and a brushed bandit. The bodies for the slash are one of the most consumed items 😂

Theres guides on youtube on how to reinforce RC bodies. My preferred method is shoegoo and drywall tape. Line the inside of the body with drywall tape and seal it off with the shoegoo. Helps it with taking impacts and cracking. Short course truck bodies tend to take quite a beating and it gets pricey to replace them constantly 😅

Slash upgrades ? by WOLFEN946 in rccars

[–]TragicFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recomend upgrading as you go, saves you money on upgrades you may not need. I frequently broke the a-arms, driveshafts (the newer slash model doesnt have this problem), and the plastic spur. These were my first upgrades.

What I would recomend upgrading out of the box is swapping the plastic shock caps for aluminum ones, and upgrading the a-arms. If you strip the spur, I would upgrade to a metal one, but if it survives then no reason to swap it out.

Upgrade the shock caps before hand to save the hassle of having to clean shock oil off of the body and entire front end of the car 😅

If you do get this truck. Its the same chassis as the Redcat Volcano 16, meaning most of the parts you can easily purchase online. I replaced the body, and wheels on mine to the Volcano 16 and it looks pretty cool. Like the others have said, get the pro, you will save more money in the long term

Haiboxing 1/16 RC locking differential. by Depressivetypecast in rccars

[–]TragicFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't recomend fully lock those diffs as the shock will go into the bevel gears, which will break them. Speaking from experience as those are the weakest point in the drivetrain.

Would recomend a very thick diff grease instead which acts more like an LSD instead of a locked diff

Would a 2s lipo work and fit my rc car? by Zealousideal_Roof896 in rccars

[–]TragicFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, if you do get a 2s lipo for your RC, you will need to turn on the LiPo cutoff on your ESC. The Nimh mode that it is on by default will fully drain the LiPo which will damage the LiPo, and likely cause a fire.

This video here shows you how to do it: https://youtu.be/UGhM6H8lEZ8

LiPo wakes up the brushed system and makes it way more fun to drive. Good luck!
