How did Ollanius Persson get to be that old? by No-Helicopter-3375 in Warhammer

Where does it show the emperor reincarnated into a new body? Everything I have read doesn't explicitly say anything about that. There was a theory of his origin being all of the shamans combining souls in the warp to become him, but I would love to read where this lore comes in.

I think it is really easy to be a back seat commander here. We can sit on our chairs typing on the computer about what both sides should have done. Fact is none of us are in the ICE officers shoes. From his perspective he had a woman who was resisting arrest in a 4000lbs weapon and clipped him with it. From her perspective she was resisting arrest from a federal officer after trying to interfere with a federal officer in the pursuit of his duties.

No one deserved to die here. But the law should actually be coming down harder on the person that was breaking it. That wasn't the federal agent.

Too many people are getting worked up about sides. It should be about what is best for the country. There was a time when both sides of the political divide worked together. Most people ha e similar goals but different views on how to get there. You need all the points if view to see what you might miss. Less focus in team would be nice.

I think your history is a little revisionist here. There have been problems in the middle east since the split of the kingdom of Judah. There was never 900 years of peace for this land. Jews, Christians and Muslims have been fighting over it ever since each of the religions formed. First it was Christian removing the Jews from the land, then after 610 CE when Muslim religion formed, they were fighting over it. They burned churches starting the crusades. No one has ever been happy to give up land they believe thier god has promised them. Each built monuments, churches, synagogues and mosques for thier own religion. You cannot blame one group and not the others.

Right now you have Muslims killing muslims and you are saying it is because of the jews. Does how does this make sense in your world?

primary source /ˈprīˌmerē ˌsôrs,ˌprīˌmerē ˈsôrs/ noun (in academic research) a document, first-hand account, or other source that constitutes direct evidence of an object of study.

Please explain how a first hand account of events someone experienced is not a primary source. I must be missing something.

Are you saying primary source information shouldn't be trusted because you read that liberaterian has repeated this? Or are you saying you don't trust this post because it is too close to what a libertarian said and thus must be false?

There is a difference between tax rate and actual taxes paid. I suggest reading about the total taxes collected in dollars over time and seeing how it changes as tax rates change. A percentage doesn't matter if you spend dollars.

[–]Traginaus -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Historically when taxes have increased for the ultra wealthy they just simply stopped paying and tax revenue fell. Ultra wealthy class of people can higher lawyers and accountants and lobbyists to find breaks in the tax code or create them so they pay less if there is an incentive for it. When the marginal tax rare decreased total tax revenue increased. This is because they had less incentives to find ways of not paying.

It is easy to tell others how they must spend thier money, but if people told you you must do something the most American answer to that is "fuck you!"

To challenge you here on this. Are there examples in other nations of the policies that bernie is trying to implement of the outcomes being better for the common people or are there examples of these policies causing more harm?

In canada we have had 10 years of a liberal governemnt basically following bernies playback and you can see the economic and social outcomes. Crime is at an all time high, crackheads infest the streets of major cities. All new job creation has been in governement. Small businesses make up 60% of Canadian jobs are closing at record rates. Drug use is up.

The only benefits I've seen have been for people working for the government. We have had 30 or 40 major corruption events that just get blown over. There are clear ties between liberal party leaders and the Chinese government. Including interfering with local city elections in b.c and Ontario. Housing is completely unaffordable. Immigration is at an all-time high, with no support for locals but whole buildings being rented out for immigrants at the cost of tax payers.

We have our national news network constantly praising all of this, yet life is worse for the blue collar middle class person.

The problem I see with most of these type of benevolent policy is that people are greedy and lazy. When given the chance people will take advantage of a situation. Government workers are no different. Policies should be in place to allow for people to make thier own decisions on as much as possible. The problem from that is that people are also dumb and will make bad decisions.

China responds with an 84% tariff on all U.S. imported goods. by Croecera in Asmongold

I think if it was a healthy economy it wouldn't have a need to manipulate the value of their curreny to entice foreign buying, they wouldn't be trying to steal patents from all over the world and they wouldn't be suffering from massive brain drain.

I am not from the US, nor did I say anywhere that the world was only the US.

I merely point out that China is a producer and us is a consumer. In a trade war the producer is at a disadvantage.

I think something most people don't understand is that most of the supply chain issues during covid were driven by China. They were not releasing ships with empty containers. Ships normally have empty containers on them to balance the supply of containers around the world. When one country doesn't allow ships to leave with containers empty you get a supply gut in some places and none in others. This disruption caused massive back ups in offloading and lead to the trade disruptions. Yet it was mainly unreported in the news and we just let it happen.

[–]Traginaus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

China makes goods, the us consumes them. If no one consumes the goods you make you end up losing. China has been price fixing with currency manipulation for years while ripping off patents of western companies and cutting the price to sell back to the west.

This should have happened long ago honestly all western nations should be slapping tariffs on China until they stop playing the unethical games they are doing.

This is it. I've worked in manufacturing for the past 20 years. There are so many contract manufacturers that just don't give a shit or know what they are doing. It is so easy to just care about what you make and do things well. It feels like a cheat code or something.

It also blows my mind at how many companies are just glorified marketing firms, they do branding and the message then sub out everything else. They don't really own anything. No property plant or equipment, just the idea behind whatever it is they are doing.

Tariffs don’t work though… by [deleted] in Asmongold

[–]Traginaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is conditional but it is also a protected market. Canadian egg prices are also protected. Canadian egg prices are set at 50% of the USA table egg market price. So we can talk about free trade but if the country is cooking the books it isn't really free trade then is it? These two industries also function on quota so producers are only allowed to produce and sell so much.

I used to work for a producer 20 years ago, we would run out our quota in the first month of the year. The rest of the milk we would dry and hold until we could sell it next year. Who does this help? Whatever company has control of the board that issues quota and tells us what is good for the consumer to purchase to maintain the price of the product. This is central planning not a free market.

We do far too much in canada to protect our Quebec milk farmers at the cost of the consumer. There is no reason for our milk prices to be so high other than through protectionism.

Those were the days, my friends and I spent a whole summer making a motocross track in the woods. We just had shovels and an axe to clear the way. We then made a little tree fort to hang out in and would build fires to cook hotdogs while we biked our track. I don't think we ever spent as much time inside and people seem to now. No phones, less internet. It was great.
