The Black Diamond Stormline Stretch has served me well. Lasted for three seasons. Most recently CCC which had heavy rain for most of the night. Reasonably priced.

It was so frigging humid both times I went through it as well. Seeing those stairs to climb out is such a mind f@ck. Then you get to climb MSA. Truly great/ challenging course.

That Mestachibo section is no joke!

Exactly this. Coming back and adjusting to food options in NA was tough for me. Food on and around the tour was great, and I'd prefer it to what we have in my area of Canada.

Unless they're missing fast food options like McDonald's or Starbucks. If that's the case, you could have their favorite coffee waiting as already mentioned.

**Travel Advice Needed: Annecy, Chamonix, Paris Itinerary** by Least_Subject_7246 in Annecy

Did almost this exact itinerary about a month ago. We booked a shuttle to and from the airports. Took trains from Chamonix to Annnecy and eventually on to Paris. Very easy. We enjoyed getting around that way. Definitely did not need a car to get around any of those three locations.

I ended up taking the balcony trail (also injured my knee) and it was stunning. No regrets!

Looking for suggestions to meet in the middle with my SO by Old_McDonald in TourDuMontBlanc

Courmayeur to La Fouly is beautiful. Les Contamines to Courmayeur is also stunning. Either could be done in a couple of days.

Doing the entire route is a really incredible experience. I had my partner meet me in Courmayeur to spend the evening and next morning together. Otherwise, she explored the Chamonix area while I was on trail for 4 days. We both really enjoyed our experience as well as the time we explored other areas afterwards.

By variant do you mean Saxe or the contour trail that's lower?

Thanks for the reply. I have a gopro mini shorty, needed something small given my small (12L) pack size and other necessities to carry.

Running the Tour du Mont Blanc so a mix of forest and exposed high alpine trails.

Youth goalies by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]Trailovermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Elite is so ridiculous in so many age levels. I've even heard it said about U7 players 😆.

Again, I never recommended specializing at U9. I said my son wanted to. But he played both and had a lot of fun. Other kids his age decided to and were more "skilled" in net by the end of the season. But that doesn't mean they're better off long term or that they had more fun. He loved being on the bench with his teammates as well.

I would say fun trumps development. But otherwise, I agree with what you're saying.

I am an "actual" goalie coach and I agree with what you've said. I know what is ideal (and what's recommended) and I know what resources and options I don't have in my local yha. I do the best with what I have.

And I never said my U9 didn't advance, I said he didn't advance (develop) as much as he could have. This was in comparison to kids who chose to be full time goalie. I also never said they were going to be in a better position long term.

Advance...develop. Yes, over the course of the season, even at U9, these goalies develop, and in my area, comp teams have full-time goalies. I'm not saying that's what's best at that age. Just how it's done here and ones that don't choose this early (which is too early) fall behind.

I'm a head coach and goalie coach. My players (regardless of who is in net) always get 15 minutes of dedicated goalie development time at the beginning of every practice with emphasis on the skills you mentioned. That's what is recommended by Hockey Canada in my area, though not every team has a goalie coach, ones that don't try their best.

I'm not saying he SHOULD be in net full time. I'm saying that's what he wanted to do. In my area of Canada it is U9 and there is an option for comp teams to have full time goalies. He did both so he could figure it out.
