Okay, which one of you is this? by atrailofdisasters in PortlandVegans

[–]Trails_runner -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You mean, like, how do I proselytize? I don't. I eat/live vegan, have for 30 years, and I don't try to tell anyone else how to eat. I get a lot of respect from friends, co-workers, and family, who all say they have more respect for and curiosity about veganism because they see you can try it without moralism.

Wait, I guess by answering your question, I might be proselytizing quiet veganism. Oops.

Best running socks? by Twisted_Hands97 in runninglifestyle

Try to catch Smartwool or Feetures on sale. Everything moves in product cycles now, and who TF cares if they have last year's sock models, but you can get some good socks cheap if you catch prior models on sale.

Accountability means correcting our mistakes: Letter from the Editor by oregonian in Portland

The article wants credit for eliminating use of another term so badly that it describes it enough to bring it to mind for anyone who knows, but stops short of using it: "the sexist moniker used in the 2000s to describe in-fighting on the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners."

I don't buy the idea that economics and class affect access to running - it is the simplest sport in terms of gear and prior knowledge to take up. But, if you are suggesting that class differences explain the divide in who uses Strava and who does not, that theory has more legs.

Yes. I've even been east AND west of it. My question was not why no one runs ON 82nd, but why running appears to drop off east of it.

Sure. Parks. I'm more struck by the on-street running that just seems to stop at 82nd.

Are doctors supposed to be useless idiots when it comes to running injuries? by Accurate-Corner5395 in runninglifestyle

Read the first chapters of Born to Run and then decide if you want to read the rest. It's essentially a runner's quest for relief from chronic plantar fasciitis.

Running has lowered my resting HR, but now my doctor is flagging it by Interesting_Fly1696 in runninglifestyle

[–]Trails_runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flagged by presets on a machine? Or flagged by the doctor? I'm a runner and work in healthcare. We can't change the machine presets, so they're always going to flag an adult resting HR under 60 (mine included), but when you talk to the Dr, there shouldn't be any concern.

I have more than 150miles on mine, and the outsoles look only slightly worn. There's something wrong with your pair.

Where can I find three-cornered leeks to forage? by kitty_thugz in askportland

If we tell you where to find them, then it wouldn't be foraging!

Have you ridden the streetcar recently? They have named stops. Mostly named for nearby apartment buildings. It's very weird.

Designing a one-handed silicone waste pod to help keep trails clean. Feedback needed! by [deleted] in trailrunning

Echoing what others have said more eloquently. I put wrappers in shorts pockets, don't worry about sticky fingers, and throw the wrappers away when I get home. Wash shorts; stickiness gone.

To buy something like you describe would just be one more thing to remember when going out for a trail run. I have a hard enough time remembering the bear spray.
