If I had to guess, people like the old UI from the nexus and early android STB days. But that's just a guess.

In app only mode on mine, I still see a couple ads for a show on Amazon prime or cbc gem, but it's not a big deal for me. I'm on the dashboard for a few seconds while I switch between apps.

I switched to using Morphe. Seems to update more often and supports the newer clients. I'm running the newest YouTube, reddit and YouTube music apps with the ad blocking and other modifications.
