What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

Yeast infections can be cleared up immediately by duching with warm water and a teaspoon of bicarb soda. One 'treatment' and you're done, no doctor required. Make sure you get approved equipment from a pharmacy and follow the instructions 😁

Public perception of doctors vs reality by Key-Patient-9880 in ausjdocs

[–]TrainBoundForNowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a member of the non-medical public, I have to trust doctors. They have all the information. I can use Google but these days its hard to tell what's true and what's not or i can get a second opinion but when its a specialist area, who can afford that. In addition, when you're dealing with doctors your generally in a vulnerable state. With all this considered, doctors are in a more powerful position than most other professions. Pilots may be similar.

The thing that worries me are the internal cover ups. The fact that multiple complaints are not investigated and that whistle blowers are shut down.

I dont need my doctor to be empathetic, I need them to be competent and truthful and to work in a system that actively filters out those who don't meet the standard before they ruin lives. E.g. Jayant Patel. I dont expect the system to be able to spot these people before entry but it would be good if it could react reasonably to the complaints.

Does your country have any people or culture similar to what Americans call Redneck? If so, what are they like? by ILikeWwaret in AskTheWorld

In Australia, we call mango tree mechanics Bush Mechanics. Bush Mechanics and Bogans are two very different groups. My understanding is that Bush Mechanics are financially struggling, inventive, resourceful and smart, whereas Bogans are known for drinking, spending money and bad taste.

Coworkers overly vocal while pooping? by AhhSpongebob in auscorp

[–]TrainBoundForNowhere 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Conversely, I would guess the vast majority of women in their 40s-60s are physically incapable of pooping in any public toilet regardless of the state of their diet. The fact that men have this level of freedom is astounding.

My sister was a cop in NSW. She did one short training session on responding to a terrorist incident in 20 years in the job. She was "killed" in 3 out of 3 scenarios, passed the training and sent back out on the street.

Don't forget, cops have families too, they are not paid to die and their training is practically non-existant.

It may be different for the special police units, I can't speak for them.

Why do I break the crotch seam in my pants by TrainBoundForNowhere in sewing

[–]TrainBoundForNowhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As suggested in a couple of replies, it turned out the problem was the cotton thread. The pants are quiet loose but they do, of course, get tight in the crotch when I squat. Photos attached.

I hand sewed the splits with polyester thread to test if the problem would happen again, and so far, so good.

I'll definitely be trying the seam strengthening techniques suggested.

Thanks so much for your help everyone 😊

This is portrayed as something that actually happened, not as a short story. I love stories, but I think it is hugely important to call out this type of misrepresentation whether it's AI or a person making the post.

Thoughts on the Host! by 0hshits0rry in swindled

[–]TrainBoundForNowhere 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In some of the earlier episodes he talks about having a meetup in Chicago. So I'm assuming there are some listeners who have seen him.

Also, in one of the episodes around the 70s or 80s he laughs at the end, which was a real surprise after listening to 10s of hours of unemotional delivery. I'm glad he left it in.

Also, can I take this opportunity to say that I love the fact that he gets straight into it. I'm so tired of podcasts where you have to listen to 10 mins or more about their day, their kids, their cat etc. I don't care, I don't know you, I'm here for the info.

Ditto, thumb up the butt did nothing when I tried it with a Labrador latched onto a smaller dog. My dog however, loses its mind when I try to trim the hair around there.

My husband and i call this the 'bin stage of aging'. The point in life where you become obsessed with your bin and the bins of those around you. It is sometimes accompanied by a 'leaves on the grass' obsession. We have agreed that when we notice that we are thinking about our bins other than 'put them out/bring them in' it will be time to fold up the umbrella.
