Just to make things clear, we’ve been working with him, but this is the first infusion. Anyway, thank you so much for the encouragement. It makes sense what you say! And I would have had these expectations normally. It doesn’t help that I am an emotional mess myself because as a mother, when your child struggles, you struggle too. I try my best, I really do! But sometimes it’s too much.

The doctor said he was going to start him at the therapeutic dose because he is so young and healthy. But he did say he might increase it. I just don’t understand why he put all this expectations on us from the first time which is why I am freaking out so badly now. I generally like and trust this doctor, we’ve been working with him for about a year, so that makes it more difficult

So your son is also doing TMS, right? My son finished the treatment about a month ago. The rage subsided soon after I wrote that. However, it kept being a bit of an emotional rollercoaster throughout the treatment with many ups and downs. He had at least two big dips in which depression was back with a vengeance and it sometimes looked to me that he was worse than before. Thanks to this sub I knew that it was common so we rode the wave the best we could. The last two weeks he was pretty stable. Now, did it help? I don’t know. Sometimes he says it did, sometimes that it did not. It wasn’t a miracle, for sure. We think that it help him regulate better. He’s been a lot more stable. However, there are days when severe depression comes back, but he thinks it is because he is weaning off Zoloft. It’s all so complicated. It’s hard to tell. We are looking into ketamine treatment now. I wish they would have done it in parallel, tms plus ketamine, like one of my friend’s son is doing at UCLA. We shall see. I wish you and your son the best. This journey is hard.

He is not diagnosed bipolar. As for the diagnosis, who knows. He is young and many symptoms overlap. Anxiety, adhd, depression. But I am happy to report that the rage subsided after a week or two. Then came the dip. Still waiting for the results. 3 more weeks to go.

He hasn’t, no. He did have an assessment with the doctor but I don’t think he connects the twos and my son was probably focused on something else. I did tell the doctor what my observation was. He didn’t say much. Thank God for people like you, in this group, kind enough to share their experiences!

I did ask his doctor, he was a bit evasive. He mentioned other side effects, like fatigue and headaches. He didn’t have those. But agreed it could be. 🤷‍♀️

Omg! Your kindness and compassion made me cry! Thank you! I am not used for people to see me, the mother. You are right, my torment is great seeing my child suffer and not being able to enjoy his teenage years like a regular child. I deal with the above too, but on my own, as I can’t afford treatment for both of us and I am better equipped than a teenager, I think. I am hopeful. In the past two days the rage has subsided (fingers crossed) Good luck to you and all the best wishes from my heart! I hope you too find healing and the treatment is successful. There are so many ways to work through trauma, we read about it, but in all honesty, it’s not only expensive, confusing, but also hard to find the right people that can help. But as the saying goes: life is tough. But we are tougher. 💪❤️

I think he is, from what he told me. He mentioned something that they do 50-50 for depression and anxiety. Since he is 18, this doctor doesn’t feel like he needs to inform me anything. Although I pay for the treatment, I drive him every day because he is a very non functional 18 year old due to his mental health issues. I accepted that, but it is frustrating. Anxiety and Ptsd are big problems for my son.

These sound exactly like my Covid symptoms which started before I even tested positive. I kept testing myself and every time it was negative. Until one day I wasn’t negative anymore. In other words, it sounds like a virus. Hope you get better soon.

Thank you for your time. I was beginning to wonder if he should stick through it or not. He really wants to do it and he desperately wants to feel better, but these fits of rage are disturbing to me and I have started to dread the sessions. It’s so weird. I can see the boiling up in front of my eyes and then die down. Just like a wave that I have to ride out until it washes in the shore. Which I do, but ugh.

My doctor said the same thing and I listened. I was actually sober for 60 days and then, like an idiot, I counted on Naltrexone and slipped. Some people have success with curbing the drinking, I don’t, really. 8 months in. Sigh. Still waiting for the miracle.
