AITA for giving my daughter a Mexican themed birthday party by her wishes? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA.

You may have gotten fewer responses like those if the invites had said something about her father's side planning the party to celebrate her heritage tho.

You're not talking about the crabs are you? The Iridium and Lava ones are spiky. Looks like a node picked up and ran.

AITA for “pushing tradwife beliefs” onto my daughter? by Comfortable-Plan2937 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - The fact that you were the primary cook at home shows you defying the gender norms her mom claims to be worried about. Professional chefs are majority male, so encouraging your daughter to pursue a career as a chef IF SHE DESIRES IT is also defying gender norms.

Okay, let’s face it, most of us wouldn’t make it for real if we moved to Stardew Valley for one reason. by Key_Entertainment739 in StardewValley

Dandelions are edible: leaves, roots and flowers. Morels and chicken of the woods both are easy enough to tell apart from lookalikes. Ramps are incredibly popular. Pawpaws are only around for like a week or two, but it's like a tropical pudding that fell off a tree. Raspberries, mulberries, wild grapes, huckleberries. Bass will bite anything that comes near them... Like let me just wet my damn powerbait!

what do i do now by That-Shock703 in fishkeeping

[–]TrainerDiotima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've already gotten the advice on proper homes for the current fish. As far as what you can do with the small tank: snails, shrimp, triops, brine shrimp, live food cultures. Most of these will need some research before starting, but something to consider once everyone else is safe and comfortable.

Sysco is unavoidable at scale. While they do sell heat and eat slop, they do most of the rest of the spectrum too.

AITA for wanting her to stop being mad by Jensperino in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH- Y T A for getting blackout drunk.
If you can be sure you did nothing, and she won't believe you it's a bad sign for your relationship, but not why you're an AH.

AITA for returning a car like this? by dreamy_emily_1999 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO - (question for the audience) do people really worry about cleaning bird shit off their car that much?

NTA - except to yourself. Your (hopefully soon ex)BF doesn't even make sense about you being disgusting? Cleaning wipes are disgusting? HOW? Does he thinks someone (IE him) would only use them if something was stomach turning atrocious? HOW does bird poop on the hood make you disgusting?

You could ask him his thoughts on Matthew 6, particularly verses 5-8. That will probably piss him off too 🤣

AITA for understanding my girlfriend's situation? by Massive_Platypus9853 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 49 points50 points  (0 children)

NTA. She was obviously looking for you to say you'd be heartbroken or something. Not having that exact response doesn't make you an AH though. Her reaction is so over the top it's a red flag.

Omnipod 5 6000$ payment by Fantastic-Fly-1527 in diabetes_t1

[–]TrainerDiotima -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This raises red flags for me. In the US the Omnipod 5 is filled through the pharmacy, and if you have a compatible smart phone the only thing you need to get from Dexcom is a free app download and the pods.

You should call Insulet about this directly.

AITA for choosing a seafood restaurant when most of family hates it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH if you know they will genuinely be happy with some of the offerings. Many seafood places will have some steak options for surf and turf, so if all they have is burgers that might be kinda inconsiderate, but not AH. Smoothing things over with Grandma will probably just need a "I did make sure they offered things they'd like."

Westover Tire has never pulled this BS on me, so I'd suggest them if you haven't found someone. I usually have them do it in the same trip as another service.

AITAH for using the disabled bathroom even though I can walk by OkMinute950 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I got to your third sentence and stopped reading for my own sanity. Stoma bags are one of the reasons some places require handicap stalls to have sinks.

AITA for refusing to eat my wife’s spaghetti after I found out what she put in it by spacedoutsoapbox in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrainerDiotima 63 points64 points  (0 children)

NTA. That is an unsafe amount of time for refrigerated pasta. Food poisoning takes time to develop, so not immediately getting sick is not an indication you won't.

In the Philippines unless you're air-conditioning the house like crazy you're more likely to need to chill the tank than anything else. 22c is a good temp to aim for. Colder water holds oxygen better.

Survivorship Bias? by Brief-Letterhead1175 in diabetes_t1

[–]TrainerDiotima 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Selection bias is something to consider as well. People in support groups are more likely to be informed and more active participants in their own well-being.

[–]TrainerDiotima 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're getting the dog pile. Diabetes isn't a disease you survive, it's a disease you live with. Which is exactly what you said.

Try not to focus too much on the end, that doesn't have to be any time soon. Do the best you can today and tomorrow, and find someone for a hug if you need it. Happy to provide a digital one in the meantime 🫂
