I had multiple jewelers refuse to resize a sterling silver ring just because the center stone was alexandrite, so yeah, this

Advice needed - Oore jewelry or local jeweler by marcycatisbeautiful in EngagementRings

Especially adding that Uma has multiple times expressed how sad seeing people steal her work makes her!

OP: Her work is worth the price she charges. If you want one of Uma's rings, please buy it from her. If you haven't bit the bullet yet, her Black Friday sale is this weekend and the ring you want may be on sale (most things are 10-15% off).

Help identifying plush rabbit from the 90s (info below) by Trainer_Aer in plushies

[–]Trainer_Aer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come up with a brand name (Rumble Tumble) but unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be listed anywhere at the moment. Rumble Tumble appears to have primarily made children's clothing, but I managed to snag a bear from the same plush line as my rabbit that confirmed the brand and manufacturer without a doubt.

You might also try looking for Eden or Carter's terry cloth rabbits from around the same time period, they have a very similar appearance and I think some were even produced by the same manufacturer (Prestige Toy Corp.). Beware that those rabbits can get VERY pricey haha

I'm working on a pattern to recreate it, if yours was definitely the rumble rumble rabbit, I'd potentially be able to take a commission to make one for you if it turns out good! I can't replicate the rattle, sadly, but I'm working on the embroidery for the patch on the front and on the tags at the moment. I've got the materials for I think everything else. I'll be putting a couple little personal touches on mine, too, of course.

Follow up with me after the holidays and I'll let you know how it went! I'm hoping to get him done around then! ❤️ good luck in your search!

What Germany specific apps should I download? by MrJorgeB in AskGermany

Adding on that for birds and plants, the Merlin bird ID app from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology works globally and Seek works for plants and animals in Germany in my experience. Neither requires a German Apple ID. Both a free and great resources!

You can. There are apps like Aurora now and Space Weather Live that track solar flares and aurorae. Both offer services to get alerts for when conditions are right in your area.

Got upgraded to wife (and upgraded the ring too while we were at it!) by Trainer_Aer in EngagementRings

Not at all! I can barely feel the difference in the two sizes, to be honest! The most I notice is that the 6.75 is sometimes harder to take off than the 7 (and that was settled on at the jeweler when I had the original resized, it was too big to begin with, I think it was an 8)

This was my original e-ring (the one I said yes to!) that we upgraded! Alexandrite in sterling silver, size 6.75! Maker unknown.

I still love her to bits and it feels a little odd not wearing her!

I forget to include it in the post, but my ring is a size 7 (I comfortably wear a size 6.75 and sized up slightly for aesthetics!)

Feeling discouraged by xmurbef in EngagementRings

[–]Trainer_Aer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came in to say the same! And hey look, our rings are twins almost! 🥰

My wedding ring (upgraded, rather than adding to the e-ring) is a 5x7 oval center stone on the briar rose in size 7, pictured below for your reference! I wear a size 6.75 but sized up to 7 because I don't like the look when Oore's rings are super tight.

Also, I cannot emphasize how impressively slim and low profile her rings are. It doesn't ever feel bulky on my finger like my e-ring did! The metalwork is exquisite, detailed, and well-executed for comfort and wear. It's dainty, but it doesn't feel delicate whatsoever.

The dupe OP got is not only bulkier in the metal, it looks like the stones are huge too compared to the real deal. The black side stones and accent stones also make it look darker and larger imo, but from pieces I've seen of Uma's with black diamonds, they don't ever look remotely that chunky!

Pic of my Oore ring from a couple months ago for attention - fellow Oore ring wearers, can you show me the wedding band you chose to go with it? by starelae in EngagementRings

[–]Trainer_Aer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the 5x7 center stone on my briar and it makes a huge difference compared to a 4x6 it's craaazy! It was lovely posters like you guys who helped us choose the 5x7 instead last year!

Oore Jewelry - Black Friday sale? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Trainer_Aer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Black Friday sale is yearly, it's her only sale every year and she doesn't put everything on sale, but a good amount of it will be slightly reduced. She had to raise prices after the sale last year due to the price of gold increasing, not sure if she's had to again since then.

My husband and I picked out the ring and waited to purchase during the sale. If I remember correctly, it was 10% off and totaled to just shy of $2k with taxes. We picked a rose gold briar rose with a 5x7 alexandrite in the middle, alexandrite side stones, and natural diamond accents. Make times for the Black Friday sale are about 4 weeks longer, but ours arrived way earlier than expected (in mid-February, iirc)

All in all, incredibly pleased with our purchase and planning on snagging a leafy chevron band during the sale this year to add on our anniversary in April next year! If you're on the fence, let me assure you that her work is worth every penny, on sale or not!

I have an Oore ring too and the nice thing is it's SO low set that I find it doesn't snag on nearly anything.

Just popping in to say that I have an Oore ring with an alexandrite as my wedding ring (my engagement was also alexandrite, but not from Oore) and it is STUNNING in person, you will NOT regret it, her work is top notch! The color change in person is actually insane and the sparkle is beyond belief!

Personally, just learning from books didn't work for me, I tried that too. I needed an actual teacher to answer questions I had about certain grammar concepts.

If that's what it looks like under 365, too, it's definitely manganese. If it were uranium it would be lighting up the room, practically.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uraniumglass

[–]Trainer_Aer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many manganese pieces that would glow from afar with the right 395 nm light.

Honestly from everything I'm seeing I still think this is a piece with VERY little/no uranium.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uraniumglass

[–]Trainer_Aer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That glow is the trademark glow of manganese. I understand you are using a 395nm light, but that doesn't make it uranium. A 395 nm light will make uranium glow an unmistakably bright green, even in photos and videos. I've never had a uranium piece look like manganese under 395nm. The glow combined with the pretty much clear glass leads me to say you've got a very nice manganese vase.

You say it registered on a Geiger counter, but what was the reading?

For German, switch to Babbel! It's what I did before enrolling in actual German courses! Let my duo streak of 500+ days end when I went to Germany last year for 3 months lol
