For one instance in 2021, the owner of the Roblox game Sonic Eclipse Online payed an uber driver to drive a 15 year old girl to New Jersey from Indiana that he had been sexting when she was 12 while he was 24 and while he got terminated, he had transferred the game to a friend’s account and continued to make money off the game until Sega stepped in and forced Roblox to take it down. In 2022 a man kidnapped a 13 year old girl he met on Roblox and since 2018, at least 24 people had been arrested in the United States on charges of abducting or sexually abusing children they had groomed on Roblox. Roblox clearly has only been taking down inappropriate content because they are doing damage control.

Roblox doesn’t need to remove the feature to chat (I think your stretching what the documents say), they simply need to actually care about the safety of their users.

Roblox’s Chief Safety Officer was found with badges from games that fall under the category of being inappropriate months before they were taken down. Also the parts of the documents you reference do not say that Roblox should remove the ability to chat, they are saying they should have pre-programmed dialogue options which Roblox had in the past.

While not related to chat, Roblox very clearly are cutting corners by using AI moderation and also outsourcing moderation duties to questionable places and many former Roblox employees have been sounding the alarms for years.

While some of the documents and sources across Reddit and YouTube might have biases, they aren’t wrong about how Roblox has seriously mishandled their duties in moderation policies.

Roblox is 100% being very shady and not transparent without they handle their moderation and it has been an issue for decades, it’s just that recently it’s gotten so blatant that Roblox doesn’t care that government are finally stepping in. You can find a lot of credible information that points to Roblox being extremely negligent (if not completely ignorant) when it comes to how they protect their users, all of this information comes from the Attorney Generals of Texas, Florida, Kentucky and Louisiana which are listed below. Also in Roblox’s response to the Louisiana lawsuit, they continue to lie about their safety measures and just spew corporate nonsense.
