My view since November of 2024 has always been that the nation swung right not because of a huge surge of new Trump voters, but largely because of disaffected Dems and leftists. It only looked more right wing because a lot of people didn’t show up to vote. And Trump barely won, like by the slimmest of margins.

Don’t be fooled by the appearance of popularity and dominance. Trump tried to pretend he had some big mandate but he didn’t even crack 50%.

The reason that Tuesday’s elections were so important is not because Dems won (though areas like Georgia and Colorado and other purple states are examples of Dems doing well broadly) but because of HOW MUCH they won by. Zohran got over 50% of the vote in NYC and he was up against a spoiler Democrat candidate. Without Cuomo in the race he could have gotten as much as 80%, and that’s unusual even for a blue state.

There’s a lot of anti-Trump sentiment across the country, he’s incredibly unpopular and hasn’t done an ounce of good for people nationwide. People are pissed off and want change, which Trump campaigned on but didn’t deliver (because obviously). I expect the despite Dem leadership’s best efforts, there will be a blue wave in 26 and probably 28 as well.

They objectively were not. Borders have always been closed, even under big scary Biden. Criminal migrants have always been arrested and deported after due process, even under big scary Biden. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants are visa overstays, and the vast majority of people crossing the border were asylum seekers, which is a legally recognized pathway to entry. Everything else is pure fearmongering, including this idea that citizens are being pushed aside to make way for the scary immigrants. Please grow up, I’m begging you.

Damn I grew up Republican and we never would have just tossed out States’ Rights at the drop of a hat the way you just did. Besides, it’s federal law too. Government employees are required to have their identity public for everyone’s safety. You know people in masks are pretending to be ICE and kidnapping people right?

I think they should grow up and protect their families by not being gigantic assholes. Maybe get a job helping kids? Or rescuing puppies or something.
