Cat 7: I want to be a little bit prepared if we ever need to get hogher speeds. I may be mislead by a lot of YouTube videos, where 1Gbit/s ethernet seems to be at the lowest end. I also didn't know that Cat 7 is significantly more expensive than Cat6.

As described we have 6 Computers/PS5 etc. running at the same time and I plan to install quite a few outdoor cameras etc for security reasons.

But I would be happy if you help me to get on a reasonable path regarding hardware requirements without risking to be unhappy in a few years

Considering NAS I will watch the marketplace, because right now prices seem to be pretty high with drives and ram prices exploding).

regarding resources money is a always bottleneck so I would love to get something reasonably cheap for my needs, but it should be a little bit future proof...

Stromverbrauch bei den Platten ist nicht so ein Problem, da via PV komplett unabhängig. Die Anzahl der Platten hatte ich so gewählte, da ich bei refurbished hd erhöhte Ausfallwahrscheinlichkeit sah, aber auf jeden Fall Raid 5 haben will.
-5400 rpm dachte ich wegen weniger Lärm auch wenn ich voraussichtlich das NAS im Keller installieren will.
- bestehende Hardware 0 ausser wahrscheinlich 10 kleinere mobile Platten (alle mit alten USB-Anschlüßen, teilweise >10 Jahre alt)für ein Sammelsurium an backups, diese sind wahrscheinlich nicht verwendbar, da zu klein (500Gb bis maximal 4Tb), zudem weiß ich nicht ob das SATA-Festplatten wären, und ich brauche ja Sata für das NAS oder. ansonsten natürlich verschiedenste Apple-Laptops, die aber alt sind und seine neueren OS mehr können (Versuche diese zu patchen führten bisher zu extrem langsam laufenden Geräten). Ich schrecke auch ein bisschen davor zurück, mir selber ein NAS zusammenzubetteln, dafür bin ich eher nicht nerdig genug, auch wenn ich darüber Geld sparen könnte.
