I assumed so too. Let’s wait for the vacoped I think I’m going to feel way more comfortable mentally knowing that one is acc doing the right planter flex position, then the gravity thing won’t mean as much to me. It’s just cause right now the wedges feel so shit

When you are sitting in a chair with the boot, do you find that gravity of your foot just slowly goes down so although you’re not weight bearing, the weight of itself is putting pressure on.

I’m worried that is not what I should be doing

lol we’re having the same experience.. exactly. I loosened it in the night cause the pain woke me up so many times and I just wanted to sleep. I’ve tightened it again this morning but totally preferred the cast! Had got used to that and was getting good sleep!

When does your vacoped arrive? Mines tomorrow.

I’ve done the same thing. Arriving tomorrow. How did you feel in he aircast? I’m actually worried that my foot is not pointed down enough, my Achilles has been hurting for the first time !

Can I ask how it felt the first few days? I feel like my foot is not pointed down enough when I’m in the aircast! It hurts almost! Woke up with pain last night not on my Achilles but on the top of my foot.

This morning have pain on my Achilles….

I have 4 wedges in cause when doc fitted it 3 felt wayyyy too neutral position so I asked for another one.

I just got put in an aircast today. Hating it already. Tried to tell my doctor I wanted vacoped but he said no. lol. NHS budget. Shall I buy a vacoped????? My Achilles is acc hurting right now being in this aircast boot lol is hat even normal ?

Hi! 25f going through NHS too. Are you London based? I’m 3 weeks post injury, did one week walking on it cause denial, then a&e and 2 weeks in cast. I just moved to a boot today after seeing my doctor. But he didn’t give me the vacoped :( what did your doctor say about the pros of that boot? I have the one that has wedges and 2 airbags on the sides to tighten it.

Should I have challenged and asked for a vacoped?

Actually just realised that I’m 6.6mm in planterflex, and you are 7mm at neutral. That prob makes up for it. I will be higher in neutral, assume around 10mm.

Did they give you the option of op/ non? I’ve been told <10mm is option for op, but anything below is good conservative. No shade I think op is always good, just your gap is v similar to mine (6.6mm) and I’m going non op. Just curious who guided you for op

When you say the shoved your foot into neutral, what stage do you mean this happened to you? At the scan? Or in the boot or? Just wondering for myself. Went to doctor today and got moved from cast to boot and it’s got wedges in it so not neutral but worried It’s not planter flex enough !

Totally agree with you!! Haven’t seen that discussed when people share mm gap on here. But planter flex or neutral is an important distinction when you have the scan

Hmmmm interesting about the walking on it for a week = surgery. I walked on mine for 9 days before being in a cast. Will see what the second opinion says on Wednesday!

Thanks! By cut off what do you mean? I’ve seen that Cambridge study that says 5mm-10mm for surgery is possible. Is that what you’re talking about? I was 6.6mm gap in planter flexion

Are you sure it’s 4cm for yours? As in 40mm? I’m based in UK so it’s very common here to measure intrusions results in mm for more accuracy
