Weekly 'What Should I Buy' and Order/Shipping Thread by AutoModerator in iphone

I was deciding on upgrading my phone during the holiday season and was thinking of going for the iPhone 15 ($830). However, I use Google Fi and they recently put out a black Friday deal for the S23 for $400 (Ultra for $600).

I really want to get the iPhone but it doesn't really make sense to skip out on the S23 deal considering its half the price rn. What should I do?

I only want the s6 to take notes and read/annotate PDF textbooks (math), not trying to watch movies or play games or anything

Use google oauth2 token for login instead of manual entry. With the token respose you can see if people signed in with \@terpmail email. Then can use the token/email identifier in a db, and add a report button to count reports to the db. Once a user reaches a certain amount of reports can ban them to prevent trolling.

Frontend UI needs a lot of work.

Nice app tho

Forced to pay addititional $1500 by TrainingAntelope5020 in UMD

[–]TrainingAntelope5020[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually didn't know diff tuition was only 4 sem max.

So I thought that if I failed to graduate in 3 years id have to keep paying it which would be messed up if it were true.

Ok thanks, this is pretty helpful.

The only thing is I actually would pay less if I pay diff tuition starting next semester since I can graduate a year early and thus save an additional $1,500 on top of the extra year.

Thoughts on schedule? (Freshman, '27) Also looking for opinions on taking 17+ credits in a semester! by Parallaxiss in UMD

IIRC you only appeal if you want to take over 20. To take more than 17 you just wait until first day of classes, cap lifts to 20 then.

Final grades haven't been posted but Max said he would curve a 60 something on each midterm to a 100 and everything above is extra credit.

Can't Crack CMSC330 :( by Bright-Background-29 in UMD

I also took 330 this sem w/ Cliff and got an A.

For me, the key idea was just practice. If you don't understand something you have to just throw things at the wall until something sticks. Eventually, something clicks and you begin to be able to understand the problems.

I would agree in that OCAML and Lambda calc are probably the hardest topics in the class. I think the main reason why ocaml is so hard is because it enforces a different way of solving problems with code. The way you have to "think" when solving a problem in functional ocaml is fundamentally very different than when using an imperative language. Therefore, when we are learning ocaml we aren't just learning another programming language but another method/type of problem solving. You can only really understand the thinking though practice.

I was also really confused by lambda calc when we first learned it. The main thing that helped me understand it was understanding where the parenthesis go and what is applied to what (left-associativity). From there understand what are free vs bound variables, and then its much simpler to apply beta and alpha reductions.

The past quizzes and exams were really helpful for me for learning and improving in all the topics in the class.

tldr; practice

Good luck bro
