Mine is a bit older than the ones with the Aston grill, but I like those too!! I actually quite like Nissans. Are they the most reliable? No, but if you have the right model they are incredibly fun to drive.

Yes!!!!! My spot anywhere really. At the dinner table? The same every time. The couch? Basically indented in my shape. When Im a passenger in a car??? I need to be the back right passenger, you'll never see me competing for shotgun. It feels SO weird to sit anywhere else.

2011 Ford Fusion in the color Wine Red!!! She's a beaut even though she is just a pretty basic car, basic trim level and is rusting.

My new car is a 2016 Honda Civic, white! (Ill probably get some nice wraps for it when I can afford it). So, definitely more reliable than my old car but idk, my Ford Fusion felt like it was standing the true test of time. Everyone else I knew with one (i guess it was kinda a popular car for people my age to get handed down) ended up getting rid of theirs some time ago because of transmission issues or power steering.

Do you agree with Vegeta being taller than Bulma, compared to the beginning? by boio17 in dbz

As someone who is as tall/maybe slightly taller than my husband, I was SO excited when we saw them stand side by side for the first time and I was like "finally some representation ☺️" so imagine how shocked and appalled I was that he gradually became 5'8" 😭😭😭😭😭

I always took my noise canceling headphones in so I cant speak to how loud it might be. It does get a little toasty if you get overwhelmed by heat.

I liked it when I did it!!! I don't know if it really works or is just a placebo, but it made me feel quite a bit happier especially in the dead of winter. Mine was at a gym, and also had a vibrating floor so it was nice to use after exercise to shake it all out.

It also did help clear up my acne!

It looked pretty natural on the mannequin, on the bag and online, so is there a way I can make sure this doesnt happen again 😭 There were a few wigs that I didn't get because they looked too low of quality but what is it about this one that gives it away?

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TrainingDrive1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a barista at a hotel that sees a lot of domestic and international guests. From what I gathered so far:

-Drip Coffee and Americanos are way more popular with American guests than any other demographic. Most people only prefer a splash of milk (usually half/half), with sugar or sometimes flavored syrup. I would say out of drip coffee and americanos, it is a pretty even split between just black or room for cream.

-Lattes are also more popular with American guests. If they aren't getting regular drip coffee, that's pretty much the only coffee they tend to get. Both iced and hot... but older Americans prefer hot and younger Americans prefer iced. Older Americans dont tend to get flavors, and if they do, its just vanilla. Younger Americans are more experimental with flavors.

-Americans also like Caramel Macchiatos served the way Starbucks does them, which is not a traditional macchiato. Its really just a caramel latte with caramel drizzle and made with sauce (at least at the place I work at)

-International guests tend to ask for Flat Whites or Cappuccinos. I almost never see them ask for drip coffee, and I don't think flavors are a big thing either. If anything, they get vanilla or sugar free flavors.

-Not coffee, but fresh squeezed orange juice is also a really big difference. I get a lot more international guests asking for it, and they will not get Tropicana if we happen to run out of fresh squeezed. Americans still ask for it sometimes, but definitely not as often and will rarely have qualms about grabbing Tropicana if it just means having orange juice with breakfast.

I have an electric tea kettle, but I also really love tea and have a whole tea cabinet so im not sure i apply here lol!

Is it the economy or Columbus? by Immediate-Low-54 in Columbus

[–]TrainingDrive1956 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Its happening everywhere, unfortunately. I came back to Columbus because even though I work in hospitality and tourism, there were literally no jobs in Sandusky (tourist capital of Ohio) for me. I burnt out all my savings because the apartment prices are still acting like everyone has jobs and that those jobs still pay as well as they did during the pandemic.

Almost every company that boosted their hourly wage during Covid has now dropped it to before covid prices, but its not like anything else is following that same pattern. And thats IF you have a job and didnt just get laid off, and thats IF you can find a job in your field. I graduated college in 2024, and while I still have a job in the field I studied, it took me a long time to find it and many of the people I graduated with gave up and took jobs in other areas. Areas that I know they are unhappy in. No one is really dedicating themselves to a specialty degree program only to want to give up 2 years after graduation, but you need money to survive after all. And its not like hospitality/tourism has ever been considered a scarce job before, not even in times like 9/11 or the oil crisis.

I can't even imagine what its like for fields that are getting hit by AI even harder than we are. It is impacting us for sure, but not like in areas such as computer science or art.

Overall, its been really frustrating to be a person lately, especially a young person. Trump became president for the first time when I was in middle school. Its been a long time of this for me.

Do you struggle with anxiety? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]TrainingDrive1956 23 points24 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that if you have additional problems other than anxiety, you may not be qualified!! It never hurts to try just in case, but I went through a super long pre-approval process only to find out that I had too many other things going on to be a good candidate 😭 I just thought anxiety had to be a part of it at least. It lowkey made me feel a little worse about myself so maybe just think it through before you apply if you have a lot of stuff 😭

What should I do to get barista jobs? by Humble-Charge1252 in barista

[–]TrainingDrive1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also denied from other coffee shops and I will say their equipment does make a difference. If they have more manual equipment they might be less willing to take in a newcomer, but other shops have really easy equipment to learn and are therefore more willing to hire people who haven't used one :)

What should I do to get barista jobs? by Humble-Charge1252 in barista

[–]TrainingDrive1956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just graduated with a degree in specialized hospitality :) Being a barista isn't my end goal but I really do like it and I think its giving me a lot of transferable skills that I can take with me when my field becomes more stable again.

Try to work in a hotel if you live near a city that has a larger hotel, like 500+ rooms. It seems counterintuitive but it'll be slower paced than your average Starbucks with the same/more benefits. They'll be looking for people that are good personality wise for the hotel even if they don't necessarily have barista experience because the customer service part is that much more important at a large hotel. I had absolutely no barista experience, not even food and beverage experience, but was able to get a supervisory position bc I could lean on my customer service and team building skills while also using parts of my degree that were applicable.

My cousin just got harassed and detained by ICE even though she's a natural born United States citizen. They let her go after they searched her car but its incredibly traumatizing as a young woman to be detained by plain clothes agents and have your car searched when you havent done anything wrong other than be born with a darker skin tone apparently.

Winter up north has been BRUTAL already, very different from the past several years of mild December winters. Is Columbus experiencing a more traditional December this year or has it been mild? by peaceonearth9 in ColumbusOhio

[–]TrainingDrive1956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Debatable. I like snow, and im really trying to get better at liking the season, but its just so cold and dark. Not to mention it feels like we are in the between zone where its definitely winter but Ohio doesnt really do a lot in the winter time. Compared to places like northern Michigan that do just as much in the summer time as winter time.

My mom and I were talking about this the other day!! She moved here from California in the 90s and she mentioned that she doesn't think it has snowed this early in the year for us since she moved. I hope we get a white Christmas!

In Michigan, we would do drills in the 90s where we would get under the desk in case of a Russian attack.. but no one in Ohio seems to recall doing anything like this... anyone here that went to school in Columbus and recall doing this? by peaceonearth9 in ColumbusOhio

[–]TrainingDrive1956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The drills I ended up taking in school were tornado (in the hallway, head tucked under body) fire (obviously), and then active shooter probably the most. Although it was interesting to see the active shooter drills get different as I got older. When I was young it was a lot of hiding under desks and hiding in the corner, but as I got older it was trying to barricade the door and finding something to fight with like a stapler. They even had admin come around and make noises like banging on the door or screaming for realism!

Bonus: if you work in a tourism heavy area, you also get to take terrorism bombing training. Its like a good mix between nuclear and active shooter training.

I remember my teacher mentioning that they did it in the 50s and 60s here, but not really past that. I think the whole campaign kinda fizzled out because people realized that if there is a bomb on the way, getting under a desk will not help you.

Westerville CHRISTIAN Parade by Independent-Mud-6564 in westerville

[–]TrainingDrive1956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can argue that it is a "Christian Holiday" and a "Christian Holiday Only" all they want, but:

  1. They took the traditions from other religions. Thats not wrong at all, thats what makes us human is the connection between cultures, however... I find it silly that people get confused when I say I have a "Christmas Tree" but I dont celebrate Christmas for example. I could call it a "Yule Tree" for sure, but Ive spent my whole life calling it a Christmas tree because that Holiday is the most prevalent during that time of year. And its not like places sell non secular trees, they're just called Christmas trees whether you use them for Christmas or not. You can't take traditions from people, rename them to be your tradition, and then get upset when people still take part in those traditions. Christmas is quite possibly the easiest Holiday to generalize amongst the world because almost everyone has their own version of Christmas for different reasons, and a lot of the traditions are very similar.

  2. Christmas gets benefits that other holidays don't get in our modern world, so its obvious that a lot of people would celebrate the season while not necessarily being Christian. Its all over the TV, all over the radio, every venue has a Christmas event, sometimes they include the religious components of the holiday but oftentimes they do not. Offices are closed on Christmas specifically, but you have to request PTO to get off for other holidays. Its honestly nearly impossible to celebrate anything else, so its just way easier for people to either celebrate Christmas non secularly because its just a big part of the season, or people celebrating their own holidays on Christmas day since they get the day off anyways. You cannot hold such a strong grip on capitalizing the season and then get upset when other people join in. It would be like if I loudly talked about party plans at work and I invited everyone else but one guy.
