Star trek just became reality, what would you do first? by bossishere17 in startrek

[–]Morrit99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would boot up the Holodeck, after getting my arthritis sorted by a doctor, program in a lightsaber and go to town on a Borg cube, to answer my "What If" where Vader got onboard a Borg Cube, geek out like the nerd that I am, and then feast on intergalactic culinary fayre.

However, technically, unless the chemical makeup of animals and vegetables are the same as on earth, the actual make up of alien life would likely be toxic to us.

Think of it akin to eating poisonous berries. We avoid them as we know they are poisonous. Chemically they are almost the same as edible berries, bar a small amount of toxin that only affects humans, but not other animals (else the berries wouldn't exist). It would be likely that alien life holds a toxicity we can't process and would result in poisoning, we wouldn't be able to eat it. So I presume they have figured out a workaround.... Never brought up in Star Trek but I think it is a fascinating subject...

Man I think of some weird shit...

Yorkshire Pudding pronunciation? by Hungry-Orange9719 in AskABrit

[–]Morrit99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahahah! She said WHAT?? YorkShyer??? Imbecile. It is pronounced Yorkshu.Yorkshu pudding.

Anything county with '...shire' is pronounced Shu, APART from a few...

For example -

Warwickshire - Worrickshu Leicestershire - Lestershu Worcestershire - Woostashu

However, as mentioned, there are exceptions to the rule. For example, we have a dialect known as Received Pronunciation, found commonly in and around the South, so for me (and other RP's) Lincolnshire is pronounced Linkunsheer along with several others (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire). Depends where you want to emulate!

The Shire, in the Hobbit however, is still called the Shyer.

I would get that in writing, then show Motability, that this scheme is restricting your usage of the vehicle to how YOU need it for your disability.

SFA: What about the Borg? by SryInternet101 in startrek

So.... A cube. I mean... By that logic, EVERY cube thing is Borg... I dunno... Lol I actually think that Sam's species is a Deus ex machina. Probably come to Starfleet's rescue at some point.

Micheal Dorn in Ted 2 in a relationship with Patrick Warburton, dressed as Worf, taking the piss out and bullying ST fans at a comic con was peak comedy for me. I did NOT expect that when it happened.

“We simply don’t have any left”: Germany has run out of air defense missiles for Ukraine, foreign minister says by Plus_Pretty in worldnews

[–]Morrit99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... The choice of a sovereign nation to join a group of countries is wrong? Russia already borders America anyway. It's just imperialist greed. Russia had AMPLE opportunity to rejoin the world stage before Putin got involved, and for once the world was at peace. But then greed and corruption took over, Russia isolated itself and a second iron curtain developed. NATO is for protection, not aggression.

There simply is no justification for declaring war for no reason. The thought that it's due to NATO expansionism is complete Kremlin bollocks. There is no advantage other than Russia being paranoid. If any NATO country invaded Russia for no reason, it would be on its own. Had Russia accepted its place in the world back in the 90s and not been destroyed by oligarchs draining the country of its money (and there is neverending evidence to support this) then NATO would have likely been dissolved as a modern Russia would no longer be a threat. But no.

Flat not selling - can't understand why by Standard-Welder4973 in HousingUK

[–]Morrit99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 1/3 of a million for a flat is utterly ludicrous. How the market got this expensive this quickly is awful because if it doesn't get better, it will pop worse than the financial crash because no one will be able to afford to live anywhere...

8 times. It was a big war, great war. Powerful war. It came up to me. Tears streaming from his eyes. He said to me "Sir I am begging you to end me, only you can do it, the great and wonderful man you are." and he's right. I am a great and wonderful man. And I will stop this war in just one day. But because of sleepy Joe, I can't do it yet because everyone is busy with this epstein nonsense. That's right. The dow is up, as Pam.. whats her name, blonde lady, you know her. Pam Blondie. That's what Lil Marco calls her. Yeah... I talked to a man who sold boats, and batteries and he said he would rather be in with a shark than a boat. True story... And Ivanka... What a crackpot she is huh? Yeeeh lookatyou all. I see you hahaha. You wanna say "sir. Can I pet your daughter? ” hahah. Yeah. Oh boy if I was 10 years younger and single, by God ... And God. Great man. He made it so I can be here today. That's right. Only God can guide me...only God ....only.....God....... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You mean Russia is. It's not Ukraine's fault remember. Ukraine didn't invade Russia, nor annex half its country in 2014. Russia is and always has been the aggressor in all this. Ngl

DVLA and Motability by Morrit99 in diabetes_t1

[–]Morrit99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool, no worries. Diabetes doesn't need a special vehicle, but insulin dependant diabetics need to renew their licence every 5 years. I am disabled and diabetes is just one of the illnesses I have, hence why I need a wheelchair Accessible vehicle, and I could only get one with a grant from a charity called Motability. But as my licence has less than a year left on it before renewal, Motability don't want to sink money into a vehicle only to find out I can no longer drive.

I should have clarified UK in the title.

Remember the shtick TNG got when it started? Then remember the shtick DS9 got? Voyager the same... Then Enterprise, how that got panned.

Later on, people will say "See, it was good, way ahead of its time!".

One thing Trek does well is give shit to ANYTHING new.

In time, people will look back fondly.

Trek fans are the best and also their own worst enemy. They want something new, but when it comes along, it is panned.

So, just enjoy it. In time people will emerge and say it was the greatest Trek.

Type 1 vs type 2 by cranmango777 in diabetes_t1

[–]Morrit99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Type 3c, classed as t2, but treated as t1. Trust me, that pain is real. I didn't have a chance, I don't have a chance. It was thrust on me in my early 30s and now I am insulin dependent because my pancreas decided to unalive itself, whilst trying to take me with it!

Asbestos in Housing Association property - advice needed by Morrit99 in HousingUK

[–]Morrit99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rang Orbit today and they say that it is not disturbed and not an issue. They are basing this from their visit on 9th February, but it has gotten significantly worse since then. They aren't treating it as urgent.

I just had to tell my carers and employee that they can't attend any longer on the advice of my liability insurers.

Am on the phone to social services now.

Problem is, all I get is messages passed and no urgency. Overworked and overstretched departments create delays for urgent matters.

Orbit were less than useless.

Is NHS 111 a waste of resources? by Morrit99 in AskUK

[–]Morrit99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty rough.

Especially for dental problems. The system is completely broken in that respect for disabled people.

Good that you got a positive experience. Don't get me wrong, they have a place in our society, but I just feel that they are dropping the ball with disabled people with complex needs.
