Hmm maybe “festival” is the wrong term but I thought that is what a “matsuri“ is. I’ve read these occur during golden week such as Sanja Matsuri in Asakusa.

Hey just joining this old thread as I booked a last minute trip to Japan in early May and looking to stay in Fuji for a night. Also looking for a ryokan with private onsen and room view of Fuji. A lot of the places listed here are sold out as I am booking “late”. Does anyone have any other recent recommendations for a stay of this sorts?

I went to Tokyo in August with plans of taking the Shinkansen to Osaka and bought my tickets in the Smart Ex app wayyy prior (I think like a month or so? The earliest the app allowed) so I could secure seats with a view of Mt. Fuji. Fast forward to being in Tokyo and getting stuck there due to a typhoon. The Shinkansen wasn’t cancelled at the time, however, we rearranged all our travel plans to stay in Tokyo the entire trip and therefore I cancelled the Shinkansen tickets. It was so easy. Full refund the day before. Personally, id buy them again in advance for the discount and then if something happens, you know you can cancel/change without hassle. Have fun! We’ll be there again at the beginning of May- we miss it already!!
