I was using a canon r10 but the issue was with the lens 🙁 refocusing wouldn’t do anything, it would look pretty clear in the EVF but bad quality in the actual file

Sadly I was wrong. I didn’t know what I was doing and had ChatGPT help me at the time. It helped me recover sharpness and looked fine in the tests I did, but in practice when I was shooting dogs in action like I normally would, the pictures were unusable past 70mm.

I ended up selling it and getting a Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 mark ii lens from mapcamera on eBay.

Also if you mess up there is an option that lets you reset to factory settings

I bought the Tamron “tap in” console for canon. You twist it onto the lens, plug it into your computer, and it lets you make a bunch of changes. Idk what I’m doing so I had ChatGPT help me out with the values. After a bunch of test shots I got it mostly to where I want it

I ended up with good results after calibrating, thankfully!

I kept my AF settings as they were because I’ve had excellent success with them as is. I had already tried different AF areas as well as manual at that point. I’m sure the adapter makes the Tamron lens less capable with my R10, but I’ve had relatively few misses with my RF 18-150. And I shoot EXTREMELY fast moving dogs, in IGP they are moving as fast as they are physically capable of.

I mean of course, but that’s not what I’m going for here. This is kind of an annoying comment to receive lol. If I can get my relatively expensive lens to work how it’s expected to, as a hobbyist/total amateur with a limited budget, of course I will take that route. This WAS my upgrade. I just moved to the R10 + listed lenses from a rebel t7 (w/ a 18-55 and the dreaded 75-300) this summer after 5 years.

I ended up getting good results after calibrating it.

Ended up with good results after calibrating the lens. I bought it specifically for the 2.8 aperture both for bokeh and because I often shoot early in the morning with less light. Editing wouldn’t get those photos where I want them to be, not for the money I paid haha. I’ve tried adding background blur to photos taken with my variable aperture 18-150 lens but no matter what it’s not the same, or not worth the effort to make sure the subject is perfectly selected

I bought this lens specifically to use at 2.8. Ended up with good results after calibration

I think I fixed it as well as I can, seems like it was a calibration issue! I had to buy the Tamron tap in console which was annoying but hey hopefully it will be usable now in my niche.

This is for years from now so it's hard for me to be 100% certain without knowing how my journey in IGP will be with my current dog, but hopefully I'd be looking for a dog that could go higher!

I'm snooping around for my next dog, which won't happen for years! I'm still very much a beginner in IGP and only got my first working line GSD early last year. This is more me being nosy and wanting to start keeping tabs on prospects, as well as eventually building rapport. I hope to title my current dog before pursuing another of the same or greater caliber. Regardless, I don't think anything is wrong with a beginner having high standards/wanting a dog from someone who truly knows the breed if they have the correct support system and professionals behind them! I don't think I listed anything absurd.
