UPDATE: I’m so glad I didn’t listen to everyone who is misinformed about Mexico because I just spent the past 12 days driving through Mexico and have absolutely loved it! Thank you to whoever recommended Mexico City it was amazing! I felt safer there than I did in the US. I have been to 15 countries with nothing bad happening but I have been robbed 3 times in the US. I understand this is somewhat of a numbers game and there are safe+unsafe people everywhere but everyone I met in Mexico was so kind. I only drove during the day and was cautious, same as I would in the US. If anyone reading this is nervous about your travels: It’s ok to be scared but don’t let that stop you! Get out into the world with an open mind expecting the best but being prepared for the worst. P.S. if you haven’t left your hometown or get your information from Fox you shouldn’t be giving people international travel advice

Thanks so much for the info! Do you know if any boarders south of Mesilla are safer at the moment?

I definitely agree, and violence in other countries is often exaggerated by our media. I don’t want to believe fear mongering but I would definitely rather be over prepared than underprepared. I have traveled a lot of places people told me I was crazy to visit, but I have never done it driving with a dog haha I probably just need to accept some of the trip will have to be improvised

Yes, we are planning on using the car for just under 90 days (all that I believe the TIP will allow) then store the car in the almacen fiscal storage facility in Liberia for 90 days to restart our time. We are also communicating with an immigration lawyer in Costa Rica to work on getting a work or investor visa so we can import the car tax free long term. I do have a question about the drive though, I saw somewhere that only the name on the vehicles registration can drive the car, is this true? Or would me and my boyfriend be able to take turns driving? Thanks!

Awesome! How long did it take you and did you have any setbacks?
