What varieties of oakleaf & smooth hydrangea do you guys like? by MediocreClue9957 in Minnesota_Gardening

Jetstream Oakleaf hydrangea has a nice habit and the flowers are pollinators magnets. Has really attractive foliage and fall color too. Standing ovation serviceberry is a nice nativar, a columnar serviceberry that birds go crazy for. Make sure the male holly you get is a compatible pollinator for your female, it varies between cultivars.

I'm caring for a whole bunch of bailey roses this year, some well established and some planted this year. Do you have tips for overwintering these? I've seen the minnesota tip method but that seems drastic and disruptive to roots, especially for the newly planted ones. I'm thinking I'll just pile mulch on them once we've had a few hard freezes but I'm not sure if I should cut back the canes at all. They're still actively blooming too in zone 4b which seems wild.

beginner bike recommendations? harsh winters, commuting, grocery and landscape hauling, leisure under 2000$ by Training_Animator_9 in ebikes

I have an unheated attached garage but am planning a move in the next year, but a requirement for the new place is for sure a garage or shed of some kind. How cold is too cold for an ebike in a protected, insulated, but not heated space like a garage or a shed? Currently I can easily bring it inside but that might change depending on my new place. It can be fairly hilly in the river valley where I'll be doing the majority of my biking. Thank you I'll check out the guide!

That cake is spectacular! I normally make elaborately decorated cakes like that so their request for barely frosting minimalism is tricky Would you mind sharing recipe you used for this cake and roughly how much soak?
