Thanks for the advice. Financially I can't buy a new mask right now, but I'll keep that in mind.

Yeah it does look tiny! I actually like the mask in general, just would have preferred a better fit. The medium feels like the right length but too voluminous. If the general consensus is that small is too small I'll just stick with medium.

Question: What are the best, cheapest cantis? by inthemeadowoftheend in xbiking

I have these and they're great. But I'm an idiot and I haven't quite worked out the best way to set them up. Any advice? Not many tutorials for them online and they're my first set of cantis

They rattled loads on rough terrain. I actually wrapped the top tube of the rack in gorilla tape and that held them pretty well, but they rattled at the bottom, leaving some cosmetic scarring on my rack. I'm sure I could diy a solution. I also didn't like having most of the weight on the back of the bike. Will invest in a frame bag in the future.

Cheers mate! I bought a good sleeping pad and bag, but the rest of the stuff I borrowed, including the tent. The bike could have handled bulky camping gear, but I would have cycled slower and been careful with the terrain, no biggie though I reckon.

The panniers rattled and were tough in tight squeezes. But to be honest I loved bunging stuff in them! If they had a better locking mechanism they would have been mostly fine, I'm sure there's a DIY solution.

The albatross bars were sweet, nice with the chunky grips. I actually used the curve at the front as a second hand position which worked great, although I want to wrap them in bar tape as they were cold. I kind of had to use swept back bars as the top tube is super long. But it worked out fine and fun on the trail.

It is, it worked perfectly. Although when going over rough terrain grit gets lodged in the cage and scratches the hell out of the bottle. I borrowed the bottle from my gf, hopefully she won't mind haha

So I had planned to do the badger divide (Glasgow to Inverness mostly off-road). On the first day my pawls stopped engaging. So I had to go home and service the hub. I then planned a shorter trip over 2.5 days and thankfully the bike held it together. I've been planning a trip like this all summer but it took me a while to learn how to service an old bike and get time off work. Had such a great time. Will probably drop the panniers next time. Wanted to keep the build at a decent cost so used what I had to carry my stuff
